Dj Rafael Araujo

DJ R. Araujo got behind the decks seven years ago, right about when dance culture hit Curitiba, Brazil (mini geography lesson: Curitiba is located in southern Brazil, just south east of Sao Paulo. It has roughly two and a half million residents and is world famous for its brilliant infrastructure, innovative solutions and its environmental and social policies). With a strong musical background (including flute, piano and drums), R. Araujo went over to England in 1999 for a course on music production and discovered the sound of the London techno underground. Since then he has kept himself rather busy, back in Curitiba, running a few distinct projects, a label, a website, a radio show and a Dj / Production school at the same time.



DJing

Playing every single weekend at local parties in Brazil, Rafael can have the experience of the club nights. Pioneer of techno scene in the south of Brazil. By that time, all the country knew was about trance and pop house. Rafael belongs to one of the biggest brazillian Dj agency called Efeelings Djs Management (www.efeelings.com.br). In Brazil, the most significant clubs Rafael has been playing we can consider Muzik Loft (Curitiba/Pr), Vibe (Curitiba/Pr), Juke Joint (S�o Paulo/Sp), A Loca (S�o Paulo/Sp), Lov.e (S�o Paulo/Sp), Ibiza (Balne�rio Cambori�/Sc), Bielle (Cascavel/Pr), Warung Beach Club (Itaja�/Sc), Se7en (Joinville/Sc), Neo (Porto Alegre/Rs) plus many others. International career

The first time Rafael Araujo took his music oversea was in 2002, playing at the biggest London�s festival Antiworld. On this first tour, Araujo also played at parties like Family Groove (London/Uk) and Cohesion (Manchester/Uk). Playing alongside names such as Chris Liberator, Cyber Steve, Darcmarc, E-303, Orpheus 2, K-90, Lab 4, Animatek, Mikelangelo, Dj Gas, Pat Trix. After that, the tour was so successfull that Rafael went back to Europe in 2003 for Antiworld festival once again and also Technosis (London/Uk), Just Groove (London/Uk) and Never Enough (London/Uk). At this time, playing with DAVE the Drummer, Marco Lenzi, Aaron Liberator, Animatek, James Kinetec. For this year, 2004, Rafael Araujo stabilished his Antiworld appearance playing alongside names like Lawrie Immersion, The Youngsters, Mark EG, ASYS, Oliver Ho, Chris Liberator, for the 3rd year in a row and making his music and style very succesfull over England. Also spinning at Torque festival in London area. Expanded his work over Germany for a short but very successfull tour in places like Douala Club (Ravensburg), Shoot Club (Delitzsch), X-Side Club (Dresden), Zoom Club (Nurnberg) representing Kiddaz Fm � Berlin Dj Agency playing alongside Djs such Johnny Flash, Relectroque, Recall 8 Vs Carsten Rechenberger, Stereo Jack.

Radio Show

Student of Radio and Television, Araujo has his own radio show at local radio station FM 96,3 Mhz every Saturday from 10pm till 00am called Popero. Spread the music and eletronic culture over Parana State. The show its live and Rafael host all of the biggest names in Brazil such as international Djs doing live sets. Producer

In 2000, Rafael moved to Manchester/UK for a period dedicated to the dance music production at local school called Manchester Midi School. Since then, with a strong musical background, Rafael developed big technics as a producer. At the moment, his tracks has been playing from all the biggest names in Brazil such as artrists from England and Germany. The biggest hit we can consider its the track called Contra-mao produced together with his partner, Dj Ilan, out on their own label BR909 Records, wich has been playing for big names such as Dj Fergie at his radio show at Radio 1 BBC from London/Uk. Also produced alongside producers like Darcmarc (Stay Up Forever / Cluster), Cyber Steve (Cohesion / Snap n Crackle), Thermobee (Bang On), Guy Geezer Mcaffer (RAW), Patrick DSP (Cluster), plus many more. At the moment, Rafael Araujo is also playing live sets together with his Dj Sets, but the live set is known by his own style of brazillian techno. Promoter

The promoter activity started way before the Dj. Promoting parties since a long time. In the year of 2000, started Big Fish which has been hosting underground rave parties for the past four years, bringing in DJs and producers like Rowland The Bastard (Uk), DAVE the Drummer (Uk), Thermobee (Uk), Scott Mac (Uk), Patrick DSP (Canada), Pauze (Canada), Aaron Liberator (Uk), Geezer (Uk), Glenn Wilson (Uk), Android (Canada), Mara Bruiser (Brazil), Camilo Rocha (Brazil), Allex S. (Brazil), Animal (Brasil) and many more. Big Fish its the biggest parties in the south of Brazil with more than 25 editions. Also promotes a club night called Technose which specializes in all flavours of techno and happens at local clubs. DJ School

Recently, Rafael Araujo started a DJ and Production School in Curitiba to expand the scene and make people know more about the eletronic culture. The AIMEC (Curitiba�s International Eletronic Music Academy) its the first school dedicated exclisively for the eletronic music and it has more than 100 studens with lectures from the biggest Djs in Brazil and international like DAVE The Drummer.
