When using my virus with cubase ive recorded in a main riff which im happy with, however i now want to use the virus to create another 'acidy' underlayer type sound.  When i create another midi track and connect it to the virus using a different patch (ie an acidy type one) and record a second pattern, it works fair enough but it also changes the other midi channels main riff to the same patch?? Is there a way around this by selecting a different channel, or can you only use the hardware once with the same patch in the track?? appreciate the help

Sounds like your midi notes includes some patch change data. check in the controller lanes and delete. You could use any number of patches if you want to re-record them in. Also select a midi part and look at the list editor. this may be an easier way of finding patch change data than controller lanes.

doesnt the virus C have 16 part multi timbral? if so you should be able to assign each patch to play over 1 midi channel (1-16) just pick up the sub midi channels under the virus main channel and select each patch. dont put any midi data on your virus master channel. ( i dont use cubase so this may be a bit hard to follow and cant get too specific but this is the general idea of multi timbral synths dude.........,

i've got a virus b so should be similar, if you push multi and single buttons together you enter (surprise!) multi single mode. so you can assign each part of the multi program to different midi channels - up to 16. and then edit the patches as well - instead of using just multi and not being able to edit each patch on the fly. have a read of the manual and it will tell you all about this :0)

if recording multiple patches make sure your using different outputs from the virus onto different channels or solo each part and record them seperately

make sure cubase midi channel matches up to the patch midi channel and that no other multi parts are on the same one, other weird shit will happen!
