Does anyone own a pair of these??I just saw today in Future music mag an article about Ian Carey and he has these in his Studio, even does his mixdown and mastering on them.If a producer like him uses them they must be alright then.Just wanted opinions from those that own them.

Thanks.

My friend had a pair and sold them. They are far from flat response; they are very colored. Isn't Ian Carey the one that puts mastering vsts on his master channel on his templates? I wouldn't take his advice.

It took my friend 6 months to get used to the sound of "real" monitors since he had the Truths for years.

Mr Myagi ,Ian Carey is a house music legend with stacks of releases,he knows his shit,i was just wandering why he would pick Truths as his monitors. He also has Alesis monitors.

Take his advice then. Don't say you weren't warned. Blows my mind why someone who is a legend wouldn't have good monitors. I'm sure he could afford them. Behringer is one of the lowest classes of electronic product.

I didn't read the article, but the only thing I can imagine he would use them for is to A>B his mixdowns. Then I could understand.

You know, people have got too caught up in the Monitor thing over the last few years. It's been absolutely flooded with nearfield monitors and to be honest so many people used things like NS10's and got very good mixes off them. Going by some of the comments I read on here I could just imagine the moaning if you heard the range they cover.

It shouldn't matter what you use, only what suits your ears. Biggest, Dearest is not always the best.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't studios usually only use these for A>B testing? I know two engineers in town (professional) and they have the classic NS10's but they're only used to see what the mix will sound like on "normal" speakers. Kinda like I would test my mixes on computer speakers or my iPod or in my car. The main duties are carried by Genelecs or Mackies, etc.

I understand the limits of a budget. I use KRK RP8s which are far from high end but they do a good job. What I'm trying to say, Stu, is for the price you could get better monitors than Behringers. No reason to use them just because Ian Carey touts them.

We're talking Nearfield monitors, that's exactly their role. Bottom line is, it's no good saying you need the B to test as these guys don't have £10k to spend on a set of main monitors. A lot of well known tracks have been mixed only on NS10's and worse.

Buy studio monitors yes but, go and actually hear them. What's the point in sitting in front of a set of Genelecs if you don't like the sound. Flat doesn't even come into it.

Ian Carey uses the Behringer truths and he checks his mixes on a pair of Alesis mk11's. Ian carey does use some processing on his master channel, but he does most of the mastering afterwards. Steve Angello actually masters his tracks as he makes them by putting limiters, compressors and a PSP vintage warmer on his master channel. His theory is that you may as well get it as close to how you want it to sound while you are making it rather than messing about with it afterwards. I've started to put some processing on the master channel now as essentially there are no rules and i'm happy with the way my last mix turned out. I guess if you were dealing with live sound that would be tantamount to suicide, but as it's mostly vst's and samples in dance music that approach works. Each to their own I guess...

Reliability issues aside the Behringer Truths actually sound amazing (FOR THE MONEY).

Just be careful you are getting the genuine ones as I've seen alot of Asian knockoffs of these around the traps and they don't sound nearly as good.

Impossible to tell apart visually too.

I faced the same when deciding on monitors and chose the RP8's.

I got them for $500 US for the pair. I get compliments on them all the time. Solid build and sound for the price.

And truth be told, I probably use my headphones as much (if not more) than I use my monitors! So don't mind my yammering too much. Monitors are used when I'm creating, writing, arranging, etc. When I need to mix down (compression, tight EQ, etc), I'm using my headphones.

Behringer is fine, some equipment is cheap and some is cheap but built expensive (this is why some of their equipment has been discontinued due to manufacture being too expensive)

I have heard great things on these monitors, but be warned that one mans speaker is anothers poor ones... everyones got a different perseption on a great sounding monitor. smile
