I dont get these questions as a lot of synths and FX alike have them....or if you automate your basic parametric DAW EQ?!

That's like saying '' I'd rather someone else go to work for me, but i still get paid'' Do the time and reap the benefit's!!! the scene is fucked as it is without people trying to find the easy way out!!!

Rant over.......

what are you on about!? producers programming some cuts to the high and low ends of the frequencies isn't going to sort the scene out!
It will take ALOT more than that

My question was just simply what are peoples views on the good filter plugins out there so i can get them, i have been using the EQ filters in logic and they just dont cut the mustard imo
I was hoping maddox would reply as some of the filter work on his latest tracks has been gorgeous, and from the sound of it i very much doubt its automation on an EQ plugin

I generally use the Auto Filter in Ableton although for a more specific sound I use either the MS20 or MiniMonsta filters.

Also, for a good overall sound, try to keep the signal running to the plugin fairly low. VST's tend not to cope as well with really hot signals - you can always increase the gain at the end of the FX stage. thumbsup

Why? What is a parametric EQ if not a multimode filter with the ability to boost as well as cut?

Yeah, don't make the scene any worse by using a filter instead of an EQ you lazy fucker!! laughing

Fabfilter Volcano 2 looks nice, if it's as good as the first then definately worth a buy: http://www.fabfilter.com/products/volcano.php

Sonalksis TBK is nice and simple. Also the filters on CamelPhat are decent if you turn all the other things off.

use any external filter plug in you have really. I'm not overly keen on the filters on synths for hard filtering. The sharper the filter, the more resonance you want on it.

Very funny... i do, but not for commercial release, its a hobby not career anymore. not got the same passion but still love to help others with what i do know and picked up along the way. in turn i too learn loads within the digital world and new techniques

Still the same argument with me, if you cant be bothered to learn the basic fundimentals of music composition then you aint gonna learn much and expect the whole track to be done for you or just sound plain shit.

either way it doesn't effect me but will effect someone who really wants to get somewhere with music. screwu

Thanks for all the replies guys, iv been using the camelphat filters abit, but i feel even when you turn off all the other FX, compression, distortion ect it takes aways the original sound, and i dont really want to be boosting onto of what i already have.
Paul i love the sound of the filtered lead on the 'Lashed Track' very sexy
pat and alex, fair enough, but imo it was just a stupid thing to say

...oh, and too many VST's are being used as FX might just make your track over produced.

Top producers use less not more and get the sound to their perfection by staying away from a lot of FX.
