I think some people still buy bits through discogs and the vinyl boards on here.  I personally pick up the odd older vinyl or two to plug holes in my collection where I have missed a decent tune or two.

It has crossed my mind to flog vinyls that have tracks I am unlikely to play these days but I can't bring myself to do it for some reason.  My other half actually likes the look of the boxes full of vinyls in my decks room/home office as well laughing

It is rare for people to start mixing vinyl these days so fair play to you! king Most go straight into CD's

I still listen to a lot of oldschoolmixes and when i find a tune or two I have missed I go straight to Discogs and search them up. Bought a couple today actually. Even if I won't play them too often I'm still a collector and I'm damn proud of my collection too! Plus I ofcourse pick up most of the new releases too, still waiting for your Shake It Up to arrive in my mailbox actuallysmile

To sum it up: If you really wanna sell, I think someone will buy eventually if you're lucky, but I would never sell my recordcollection! My preciouslove

I don't know anyone that uses just vinyl any more and although it is obviously more collectable than other formats, its bulky and not cheap. I would keep it if you have the room, if not, flog it. Just make sure you copy what you need first

I have actually been ripping many of my older tracks to CD lately so I can play them off my CDJ's.  I have got most tracks I may play up to and including 2000 done a couple of days ago.  It would probably help keep them in better condition anyway and I would feel a bit dodgy if I sold them on after ripping anyway.  I have only had chance to have one go with them so far but it makes tune selection far easier than having to dig through boxes that contain 110 just because I recall a top track I want to play at the last minute

I have noticed though when I want to grab some older tunes they are lot easier to get hold of these days than in the past.  It must be either people have given up on bits of their older stuff and sold their collection or some people possibly are ripping and then selling on to make money.

I love it too- completely different feel. My only reservation with mixing vinyl are the condition of the decks/needles you use. The amount of times I have played on wondering decks or the needle keeps skipping when you cue up is stupid. *touch wood* I have never used a CDJ and actually had a problem!

Good point- I think I would feel the same. The stuff I would want to sell, theres no way I would ever rip and/or play again.

I have quite a few of those in the vinyls I have been thinking.  It ranges from good to OK tunes that I won't probably play, through to the "what the hell was I thinking" purchases, double purchases and a handful of vinyls that a certain Birmingham based record shop (who shall remain nameless) sent me instead of what I ordered argue

As a few people have said above, I still buy old tunes on vinyl to plug holes in my collection, even if the said tunes are available on download.

I would never ever ever sell my Tinribs, or my SUF's or other acid techno bits as they mean a lot to me and I will still be playing them in years to come.

I do have a stack of shite though (300+ records), mainly hard house, which I wouldn't mind getting rid of. Will probably list it on here and Discogs when I have the time. Fleabay is a pile of wank now and I try to avoid it wherever possible. laughing

I found it an utter pain in the arse. Just remember too many people trying to haggle with me and one in particular getting a face on because he thought the postage was too high when I was only breaking even on it

I'd say its very hit and miss. Stuff you think will sell doesnt and vice versa. I also agree ebay is a waste of time unless you list as 99p starting bid but then your risking a cheap sale. I've got a batch of 100 to list as a job lot and i know it will probably only go for about £30+p&p. Thats probably about 35p a record!!!!!

I know its the answer to everything these days but the credit crunch doesnt help....people just dont have the disposable income anymore to warrant paying £10+ for a record on a mass market.

Also....look at the lists of vinyl in this forum and how much interest they generate (very little if any) but i bet 5years ago people would of been sorting out deals all over the place.thumbsup

I know i am going to regret it if i start selling of my vinyl. I don't like cd's, to me it feels like i have lost touch with the music then...physically i mean of course :p No matter what people say -and i do believe them when they say it- i just don't "feel" a jog the way i "feel" the vinyl. I love my vinyl and i'd rather die then use cd :p

Got alot of hard house stuff that tbh I probably wont ever play again, old bouncy tidy's ect.

Guess that with the price of second hand vinyl being as shit as it is for hard house it's really not worth selling them.

I'm only buying the odd hh/nrg release these days, and they have to be really good for me to part with the cash, whereas a couple of years ago I bought some stuff just to keep my collection of that lable going even if the tunes werent anything special.

Now I'm playing techno more there is a whole world of tunes out there from producers and lables I've never heard of to keep me interested in buying vinyl, as well as tracking down old classic's - (mostly acid stuff)thumbsup

You could always take some good needles with you whilst playing Lucy just in case for piece of mind, you'd probably only need to use one deck anyway.

I still buy 2nd hand vinyl but not much, unless it's something I really need.
