Looking for a new soft synth to buy, i've used massive and really liked it but have also heard really really good things about Sylenth1.

Any suggestions?

*Edit* Sylenth isn't mac compatible yet frown

I would say Zebra 2 may overtake both these synths in terms of sound quality and modulation possibilities.

Out of the two I'd personally choose Massive. I use Sylenth as well but it has far less flexible routing.

Once you have the hang of Massive it's easy to make pretty much any sound you can dream of due to the flexible routing, especially huge leads and basses. The LFO step modulator is fantastic as well.

Sylenth 1 is a great 'standard' synth if you are more used to the traditional synth layout. It still sounds great.

sylenth hands down.

Agree! Bought it a few weeks ago and my got the sounds you can get out of are mind blowing. A truly amazing synth. Can get some crazy nord lead 3 type sounds from her (Marcel Woods style) and hands down can create the best hoover and acid sounds ive ever heard from a vst! Love the way you can modulate the fx.thumbsupthumbsup

there is a free version of zebra i personnaly think its unreal, not a fan of sylenth at all. only just started using massive, not really 100% on it as of yet, seems a bit confusing tbh

I almost like the fact that Massive is a bit confusing, sometimes what comes out is a bit random, which makes it unique sounding smile

Massive is a great synth, i've used 5 instances of it for various bits on my last choon & with the whole track playing in full in barely touched 5% on my CPU monitor. (is a core 2 duo hackintosh running logic )

the routing is actually very east to get to grips with once you have been shown how to route as it not obvious. the slynth 1 is a nice synth , but the new free synth from CM music magazine sounds just as good if not better for alot of things,

of course all synths have their own character so if you can get both then why not get both.

If ur not a fan of Sylenth you havent played with it long enough, go thru some of the other banks mate!! I'd go as far as to say it's the best vst EVER!!! thumbsup

Either that or you have no ears laughing

Both great synths - Massive obviously has a lot more depth with all the mod routings and waveshapes, but for analogue sounding stuff Sylenth sounds better to my ear.

Sylenth + Predator > all other software in my experience.

Massive is a great synth, but I'd give it an A and I'd give Sylenth and Predator A+

ye i have played with sylenth and i still aint to keen on it, but like sum1 said in a previous comment each VST has got its own charecteristics, and maybe the VSTS i use have got charecteristics that apeal to me more than that of a sylenth. and the VSTS i use may not apeal to you, or i just aint got no ears?
