yeah that's what I read. I hope it works out...I just can't afford to shell out hundreds of dollars on programs and don't wanna fuck around with cracked programs. I figure if the OEM's are solid it's a cheap alternative.

Can you get OEM music software? Never seen it although I have seen people selling academic versions on eBay which usually work out cheaper but you do get manuals etc with them.

I don't think legally it's meant to be sold on its own. As far as I know it's something that would come as part of a package with a computer. Take from that what you will but, I'd consider against it and contact the manufacturer first to make sure they are a reputable dealer first.

A lot of companies do sell legal download versions but, if it's OEM then it's best to be sure.

OEM - Original Equipment Manufacturer - The software is meant to accompany a piece of hardware that's being sold e.g. Nero with a DVD burner or Live Lite with a Midi controller or something like that.

OEM software is often not the complete package - it might not have 100% functionality

OEM software is the full version. It is required to be pre-loaded onto a system before being sold as a package, e.g. any PC you buy will be pre-loaded with an OS; that OS will be the OEM version thumbsup

Not true, OEM spoftware is most always an Adapted version, in reasons case, or a LITE version in abletons case, yes, they are full, as in they are not demo's, but there is limited functionality

The best one is the Cubase one, thats a really really good OEM package, i used it for ages with no probs!!

I have an OEM copy of windows, it is definitely a full and legit copy. it just wasnt necessarily legit for it to be sold seperately to me as it was supposed to be installed on a pc when built. I expect that I MAY have a problem if I contacted Microsoft for help but that will never happen and it runs all updates etc 100% fine as it is still a legit copy.

I expect some OEM music software may often be LE versions though, as its usually LE (cut down) versions that ship with stuff, for example my M-Audio soundcard came with an LE version of Ableton, as said above - ts totally legit but its lacking in features and NOT the full package.

i think what you are saying is true, but i have known people to sell "OEM" software at some of the music technology shows. thats how i bought my first copy of cubase sx but that was from a steinberg stall, don't know if i would trust buying it from a 3rd party though

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer and should only be sold with a new pc or (or in some cases with major hardware purchases such as motherboard, harddisk and ram)

so this would by no mean what so ever make it not work or be fully software, unless the equipment that it is supposed to be sold with acts a some kind of dongle (for example pro tools m-powered) is that right?

by any chance is the person trying to sell you this version of reason 4 "supposed" to be an m-audio sales representative. and have they told you that its full software but it can not be registered
