Since the night of the show, scores of young people have been checking into
hospitals all over the capital with the same symptoms: burnt retinas.
'You can see scars on them,' one doctor told Kommersant. 'The loss of
eyesight in some cases is up to 80 per cent and it's unlikely it can ever be
restored.'
The party-goers were blinded when festival organizers pulled a large,
reflected tarp over the stage to protect from the rain. Lasers meant to light up
the clouds bounced back into the crowd.
'I immediately saw a black spot like the kind you get when you look at the
sun,' Dmitry, one of those being treated, was quoted by the newspaper as saying.
Other participants at the Aquamarine festival in Vladimir, 170 kilometres
east of Moscow, reported trouble with video and camera equipment.
