had a guy try to perform a citizens arrest on me when i was about 14 ,he got a shock when i head butted him and my brother twated him over the back off the head with a bottle of irn bru "glass bottle",,he did'nt seem like much of a hero lying there with a bloody nose and gashed head covered in blood and irn bru ,,DONT GET INVOLVED your only gonna get fucked up

I wouldn't dare try to do a citizens arrest, even if you do manage it you can quite easily be done for some other offence.

Very sad for his wife and kids though, and fair play to him for trying to help the couple out, even though it was a bit stupid

Personally i would get involved to help someone depending on the situation of course, if you were totally out numbered etc i would call for police backup first or think of some 'safer' way to distract them rather than just jumping in there. That or find some decent object to use as weapons. If it was just like a one on one fight or something i'd let them get on with it

wot can i say i'v done alot of crazy shit over the years ,if i could get a copy of my criminal record i'd post it up so u could judge for yourself if i'm being honest about my antics ...........

I'm sick of hearing stories about innocent people and their families having their lives destroyed by these brain dead scum who don't give a fuck, that's a horrendous story and I feel for his wife and children....terrible.

These kind of people should be raped in the face. I see no reason not to burn them at the stake

too true tho, there's no room in society for scum like this who for no reason or gain orphaned a family, shocking stuff and they need to be made an example of my being stoned to death or burned alive.

the thing to do is quietly phone the police first and get help cos a gang of 10 men fucking up a couple are obviously gonna do u over as well - not the smartest move by him but noble and brave - his death may well have saved the life of those 2...

Damn right mate. I'm a bit of a Nihilist really. In my opinion, some crimes don't warrant the offender being given a second chance. Rape, murder, 10 men kicking an innocent couple to death. I fail to see why these people are given any kind of rights. The world would be better off without them and they should feel ultimate pain as they die.

i'm not sure that would bother me tbh. the law is an ass in many respects. the right thing by law does not necessarily equate to the right thing morally. some coppers looking down their nose at me wouldn't stop me from being able to hold my head up high.  what would stop me however is the fact that i'm weedy and don't want to get kicked to death

I'd never perform a citizens arrest. My option is to batter them until they can't get up (including whipping of my leg and using that to knock the fuckers down), then let someone else call the police

That's quite common.

you are allowed to use "reasonable force" and false imprisonment/kidnap convictions can be avoided simply by sitting on the person and stopping them struggling until the police arrive. it is then up to the CPS to decide if there is enough of a case against the person performing citizens arrest to take them to court, aswell as vice versa. they're not just going to take one persons word for it over the others

that's why charges are often made - it doesn't mean that will result in a conviction

Story in the local paper yesterday, a guy dived into a raging river to save this toddler, he helped her to safety but was dragged under the current and died

did anybody see the story in the papers today (complete with a cracking pic) about the guy who performed a citizens arrest on a guy who had been making company cheques out to himself and cashing them at cash convertors? his boss stuck a sign round his neck saying "THIEF! I stole £849 (or something) and am now on my way to the police station." and paraded him through the town centre to the cop shop.

his boss has been charged with kidnapping. technically the boss is most definitely in the wrong, but fair play to him anyway, that sort of public shaming should be brought back for some offences IMO (but preferably after guilt has been established by the police/courts etc)

Yes, bring back the stocks in town centres. Some chav steals some kids bike or robs and house, put him in the stocks for the townfolk to spit at him and throw rotten eggs in his face.
