Can Vista be stripped down like XP (all the fancy memory guzzling shit)?

If i go Vista 64, is it stable enough as i want to go over the 4gb limit.

I dont have legacy items plugged into this music PC, just EMU 1212m & Midi Express, so i should in theory be fine?

Are there any Vista to XP network issues as this is important to me for file transfering from other PC's - this Music wont be connected to the net.

Are there any Cubase SX3, Soundforge 9, VST plugin (mainly Nexus, Sampletank 2, Kontakt, ABL bassline2) issues with Vista 64?

Cheers

Get a mac!! hahahbiggrinbiggrin
lol biggrin

To be honest, i have been with PC's for so long i couldn't go back to a mac...and that's weird since i went from Atari to Apple then onto PC, which at the time WAS a pain in the ass!

Im happy with XP and the hardware now but in case i need it in the future i was just seeing where Vista was at within the music world. I have an apple Mac book (old) and dont like OSX 10, prob due to getting to know XP inside out and not knowing OSX since the last apple OS i had was 9!

But, if i had the cash and professionally working within music again i would concider an apple....but not Logic as i didnt get on with it even on PC.....so worries Cubase ISNT as good on apple as logic is?!

There is XP 64 but not supported anymore by microsoft...only Vista 64 uhoh

i am having issues with networking xp and vista atm ( this thingy ). not an issue if you have xp sp3 installed. vista can see the xp machines on the network but xp machines without sp3 cant see vista.

64bit drivers really depend on the company, some have them and others keep saying 'not until there are more users', kind of a catch 22 really.

but vista is pretty stable now and flys if you throw the power at it that it was created to use.

Yeah, its pretty spot on now - I use Vista x64 on my main studio PC these days.

Only niggles are occasional glitches with the browser on Massive, Absynth & FM8 - nothing major though

Apply SP1 before you install the rest of the stuff. All of it should work, SX3 too.

That old Asus board of yours supports up to 8GB of 800MHz DDR2 of 1.8Volt running at 5-5-5-18 CAS latency. A-DATA and Mushkin make 2GB modules for it. You could even hackintosh that board with minimal tweaking for everything else to work. Good boardthumbsup
