I've got a chipped Xbox, problem is it doesn't run a lot of the games. I wanted to build a machine last year but, didn't get round to it, bought the Xbox about a month or so ago and gave me the buzz again to pick up the project.

I'm taking pics as I'm doing it, will take a while as tho. I'm struggling on the finish at the mo as the majority of cabs use Particle board and it's an absolute shit to get smooth. Prime, sand, Paint, sand to infinity laughing

Anyone wanting to try mame but, can't be arsed to make a proper control panel. I butchered an Xbox controller and put a USB connection on the end. Works great and like pennies to do.

Do you have a screen also?

I have a 21" PC monitor, don't fancy electricuting myself with an arcade monitor! smile
I had the guys take mine out when I picked it up. It was a 25" screen which is great but, I'll be fucked if I was going to fiddle around removing it while I worked on the cab laughing 

haha fair play. I am going to see what its like with a 21" PC monitor first, might swap it out later

That's a control panel layout Alex, Marquee is the lit box section at the top of the machine.

This is the control panel setup I like, though perhaps 2 x rows of 3 buttons horizontally rather than the kicks in that seperate clump.

Yeah about time hey! Just been waiting to move out, get the keys tomorrow so he can get on the case (after he has sorted my lounge out, haha!). He is a carpenter so thats a bonus.

 

Im basing my cabinet on this one http://www.arcadecab.com/ I have an X-Arcade joystick to go in it as well.

laughing yeah I remember us talking about it before. Lucky to have a carpenter, I was going to scratch build mine as I had the MK cab plans. Found this one so saves me trying to find a good day to cut outside this time of year.

Nice. Have you seen the Knievel cabs? That guy seems to knock out some nice stuff.

I used to have one in my house, that played Gangster paradise every time u won the jack pot. I wasn't sad when my ex sold it.

You should have programmed it to play Sharona laughing

You can use it for either. Better secured in a cabinet though really. I haven't used it much yet. Had it for years, just waiting smile

He does make them but, he's based in Canada so it's not really an option. Think you can get his plans as I've seen a few people mention they have used them.

Well it can play a lot but, won't play the Metal Slug (which is one of my faves) series from what I remember and other things I've come across like Aliens Vs Predator and KOF series. Not spent much time messing with it as I just dumped a load on it and when a few didn't work I checked if there were any missing roms that were on other discs but, I think all those mentioned were already there in full.

Oh right! Sorry i thought you meant Xbox games not MAME ones. Not tried doing that as it goes, didnt know you could. But yea i have problems with mame on my pc as it goes, i got a working copy of Alien Vs Predator i can upload for you if you want it though thumbsup
