Audio problem with OSX

Can any one help me out? I'll be playing audio through quicktime/itunes/whatever, and it'll randomly start playing backwards, which is really fucking annoying. I have to stop it, then press play again to get it going. Sometimes it'll play normally for a long period of time, other times just a few seconds. Has anyone else had this problem or got any suggestions as to what might be causing it?
Cheers

wtf munted

thats fucking odd, never had anything like that. Seems really strange that its multiple bits of software all displaying the same problem - is it the same audio file ?

haha tell me about it. Theres not even a reverse button on either of the programs =/
I've been trying to test it today and find out when it's happening ,and it seems to be when audio is playing in any sound program in the back ground (i.e it'll be playing but i'll be typing something in firefox) it goes into reverse. When i play something and dont do anything else it's fine. Do you think i could have unknowingly turned on some sort of apple hotkey or something?? I'm not sure if these actually exist or not but thats the only thing i can think of.

****edit**** it has happened on loads of different audio files including wav, mp3 etc

Jeez that really is strange. I've used and owned loads of macs and never seen that happen. Check in your preferences under Universal Access that you don't have something like VoiceOver turned on.

Matt, does this happen only when you use Firefox or can happen when you're in any application?

I'd suggest you use Safari for a few days, or change your version of Firefox. Also try disabling your FF addons, maybe one of them is doing something weird.

Are you sure you are running OSX? Im only asking because Macs are stable and you have no issues with anything, nor do they break down.

The other week I had to use my iMac to create a USB Boot Drive so my girlfriend could reformat her Linux laptop after it crashed and refused to load any more. I guess no OS is perfect wink

Firefox shouldn't affect the normal running of OS X. I have FF 3.5 running on three different macs here and none of them have had any issues. I use a number of FF addons like AdBlockPlus, Firebug, etc.

See, thats what I waiting for. They are not more stable then PCs. Macs are PCs and PC is just a PC. Its what you run on it that is the problem. If you are talking about Mac being more stable then a PC thats running windows then I agree with you. A PC running Linux will outferform a Mac in many tasks and security and stability is much better so dont think that you run the best software. If you are gonna say that Macs are more stable at least say it right. thumbsup

I dont think you understand mate. You said " Macs are stable and you have no issues with anything, nor do they break down. ",My point was Mac's still have issues, and still break down. To be honest it's not a big fucking deal really is it?. And I'm not really bothered about linux because i work on logic, hence the mac, and have better things to think about than getting off over operating systems. If your going to reply to my posts please try and read them correctly. thumbsup

Ignore him mate, he was only being sarcastic. Macs crash, Linux crashes, fucking everything crashes. People like to slag Apple users off though when their Mac crashes as it doesn't happen very often. Linux users love it even more because Linux crashes even less but what good is that when you can hardly run any of the top software packages without something like WINE.

When Linux has the same software compatibility as OSX I'll move over. Due to upgrade soon, gonna have a bash at that EFI-X I think. Octo-Core i7 with 12GB RAM, 512MB GPU, 2TB HD and 24" Monitor for

Yes i was sarcastic so you might wanna re-read this thread. My only point to you was not to say things like "Mac's are more stable" because thats not true all the time. A pc can be more stable then a Mac and Mac can be more stable then a PC. It just depends what you run on it. If you say that OSX is more stable then Windows I'll agree.

If you say "Mac's are more stable" you come across like someone who hasnt really looked into things deeply which makes you ignorrant.
