nice! although I have my 4D setup now so that the buttons below the faders lauch seperate clips, so I can quickly jump between certain parts of tunes so its a similar setup.  Too many new things I can't afford

Haha, I'm the same mate but for gigs, I'm gonna have to look at an alternative to the 4D. Oh and I have my main light pipes for playing clips and just use an encoder to select the scene to launch. Free's up all those buttons for effects then

The problem lies with how you've routed from the DJM800 into your soundcard. You need to route it like this:

DJM CH2 (select digital line audio signal)
Route RCA from DJM CH2 (Line In) > Soundcard CH1/2.
In Ableton CH1, set channel to send audio to Soundcard CH1/2.

DJM CH3 (select digital line audio signal)
Route RCA from DJM CH3 (Line In) > Soundcard CH3/4
In Abelton CH2, set channel to send audio to soundcard CH3/4.

Your master output should be sent to an amp/speakers using an RCA.

Now, you sound have signals from Ableton channels 1 & 2 being routed through the DJM channels 2 & 3. To overlay a DJM effect on the ableton channel, just select the channel on the effects section of the mixer.

You just say how I have set up my mixer combined to Ableton &  CDJs at this time ^^^^

Ok thanks a lot for thoose informations   , I'll download Audacity then, but i've got one question:

All output from the DJM800 REC OUT feeds into a Line In, routed into a recording software package. All audio going through the DJM will be recorded. That includes all Ableton effects being laid over Ableton channels and also DJM effects being used over all the DJM stereo channels.

Oh and I'd also set up your send and return into Ableton so you can use your ableton effects to lay over your CDJ channels.

hi, I download Audacity, I plug my DJM 800 REC OUT to Line in of my SoundCard and when i'm recording, the DJM 800 effects doesn't sound in my mixes : o) what's the problem ? Thanks to reply fast, I want to work on my songs my friends :p Fraizor

it must be something you're doing wrong on the mixer then as it's all hooked up correctly now, god knows what though. Perhaps take a few pictures of your set up, like how it's all wired up and a close up of the front of the mixer etc. Then put them up here for me to see.

mite be obvious to some people but any1 have any ideas on how to pan a track without an LFO? In other words i dont want to auto pan a track, i just want to pan 1 track hard left and the other hard right

The channel pan isn't suitable?

 my fault, couldnt see the pan as i was working in arrangement mode, just worked out its in session

I got my copy of ableton 8 the other day. I am a complete dunce with it at the moment as never used it before but have to say I really like the lay out. My plan was to use it for mixing but I may even convert from cubase to this for production as it seems like a very logical program.

 

 

I use ableton for my productions and much prefer it over cubase

Got myself a akai apc20 last week and have to say that I am loving it, for my fx' I have set up a dummy channel and that works a treat, it's pre mapped what was great to start with but now I started to re-map it to suit me and it's piss easy to do

think I mkay shell out on the apc40 then. Anyone had any experience with it?

find the video any good? I found it better to work with the transients rather than making warp markers.. dont know how it works but seems to work for me. Used to be able to warp every other 1 but aint failed so far.
