If any1 is looking for the budget controller of choice, Vestax Typhoon is the answer. I just got one of these and the build and quality blew me away. I work/live at opposite ends of the country, and the Typhoon can come with me, no set up, no fuss.

It has an inbuilt ASIO soundcard and connects to your laptop/pc via usb. Speakers and headphones then plug into the typhoon. Awesome idea and awesome product, best bit is, its only 200 quid, and isn't much different from the VCI100, not another 160 quid worth different anyway! thumbsup

FEED BACK ON NUMARK OMNI CONTROL

Took the decision to buy the above controller, mainly due to price (£240). Risked it a bit as i'm running it on netbook with a 1.67Ghz Atom processor and 2 GB of RAM, but it works fine - hasn't been using more than 25% of the processor mixing 2 tracks. Haven't tried with effects yet.

Pretty intuative, jog wheels feel good  and are adjustable. Tone controls are a little plasticy. Solid metal case, feels robust.

Didn't come with windows 7 drivers which were a pain to find on the numark website.

As a cheap option would recommend as a first step into the digital age. 8/10thumbsup

Definitely a Macbook Pro if you have the cash, such great bits of kit.

I'm running it on a Dell Inspiron Intel Core i3 2.13GHz, 2 gig DDR3 ram with Windows 7. Had no problems whatsoever in 6 months. Don't know if its just my setup but Windows 7 performance seems solid. Still isn't stopping me from saving for a Mac though.  thumbsup

How many posts do you need asking for the same thing? To answer your question though you need to say whether you have Traktor Pro 2 or Traktro Pro 2 Scratch?

One thing i've found that helps is using mp3s that are QUANTIZED, meaning that the mp3 stays at a constant bpm throughout the song. For songs recorded before the 80s this is almost impossible unless you have a source of music of special dj edits that keep older songs w/ live drummers quantized. the site i use for this is called the mixtools- great pool at a very reasonable rate for what they offer Here's a link to check out their blog -- http://www.themixtools.blogspot.com Here's a link to DL a sampler pack of their edits -- http://www.mediafire.com/?vmh1cpybh11be90 the pool has a fantastic selection of ReDrums, DJ Friendly intros/outros, Quick Hitters, Acapella intros/outros, Transition/Segue edits and more for all genres and eras of music.

Bumping this thread, cause I've just got a copy of Traktor Pro 2 and I want to hook it up to my mixer for cross fading.

I have absolutely no idea where to start. I've searched t'internet and posted on the NI forum and the only response I got was someone telling me that I needed to upgrade to Scratch Pro and buy an Audio 6 external sound card.

I've already got use of a Saffire Pro 24 and a DJM700, so I'm sure I must be able to hook it all up somehow!!

Hi mate, yeah - that's what I want to do. I've managed to get decks A and B to separate channels on the mixer, but they're in mono. Getting closer, but still not quite there!

Well you need an external audio card to do this, that's what Traktor's Audio 4/6/8/10 cards are for, you can't do this straight out you computer/laptop..

If you have use of an external soundcard, then you just need to set it up so each deck output in traktor, is set to the corresponding individual outs on the card, and then run cables from the card, to the mixer.

So basically, in traktor, Deck A will go out Output 1 and 2, B = 3/4 C = 5/6, D = 7/8

Obviously to run all four decks you will need a card with 8 seperate outputs in order to achieve this.

I managed to crack it now, thanks.

I have a Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 and the problem I was having was relating the inputs in Focusrite's mix control software to the physical outputs on the sound card.

All sorted though.
