grindcoreFor OSX, you need to have a drive with a Mediatek Chipset.
IDE interface burners for Mac Pro (2006-2008 models):
-Samsung SH-S222N - some mac specialized stores may mark this drive as "SAMSHS222NBLS" for part number.
Compatible with any Power Macintosh G3, G4, G5 or Mac Pro system with an IDE interface. Some older systems will not be able to burn discs at full speed due to a slower system bus or IDE bus. Highly recommended for any G4, G5 or Mac Pro system.
-Pioneer DVR-118L

SATA interface burners for Mac Pro (2009 'Nehalem CPU'):
-Pioneer DVR-218LBK
-Samsung SH-S223B - some mac specialized stores may mark this drive as "SAMS223QBEBSL" for part number. I dont know what the deal is but Samsung also uses a Mediatek Chipset just like the Pioneer DVR-218LBK. The Samsung SH-S223 series drives is the best on the market because it can burn 2 brands of DVD media at 22x. Flash the firmware update to make it compatible with 2 more brands of DVD media.
