optical drive for mac pro

seems mines fuct...anyone had issues with theres not recognizing cd/dvds..started happening today..mine splutters and then spits it out after bout 30 secs,and if i do need a new optical drive anyone know of the cheapest places to buy em and wat i should be looking for?cheers mofos

For OSX, you need to have a drive with a Mediatek Chipset.

-Samsung SH-S223B - some mac specialized stores may mark this drive as "SAMS223QBEBSL" for part number. I dont know what the deal is but Samsung also uses a Mediatek Chipset just like the Pioneer DVR-218LBK. The Samsung SH-S223 series drives is the best on the market because it can burn 2 brands of DVD media at 22x. Flash the firmware update to make it compatible with 2 more brands of DVD media.
