Ableton problem...

When I listen to tracks in Ableton while doing a mix, the sound quality is poor.  It almost sounds digitized, especially the top end.

None of my tracks are clipping and there is plenty of head room in the mix.

Any ideas?

Use either repitch or complex warping

I'm using complex at the moment, and tried the other settings with no luck.  I can't see anything obvious other than Ableton being shite at sound reproduction.

dont be daft, why would ableton be shit at paying back an audio file? if you are djing, set warp to re-pitch and nothing else, not even complex is good enough in my opinion. if that doesnt work then its either a problem in your settings (soundcard etc) , routing options on your mixer (ie: looping tracks into others) or hardware driver problems

Well my Cubase works just fine. Never had this kind of problem with any other DAW or program on my pc. It's not the first time either I've heard someone with the same problem in Ableton. When I say the audio sounds distorted, it's only ever so slightly. You probably wouldn't notice it if I didn't tell you. It's just, I can hear it, and something's not right.

some of the worlds best artists use ableton... its not the software that is the problem believe me, ive been using it for years and never had any issues with distortion that couldnt be solved. cubase hasnt got anything in the audio engine that ableton hasnt got.

Are you rewiring Ableton into cubase?

I do rewire it into Cubase, and havent noticed it then. It's when I do a mix in Ableton when I hear it on some tracks. It's only in the top end.

The files that don't sound so good wouldn't happen to be mp3s would they?
