a lot of the mixed CDs that you buy in stores aren't even mixed by the DJ themselves. they basically work with a record label to suggest and license some tracks and then they go into a studio and the engineer mixes them together...that's why when you see the dj live they usually mix differently than their mix CD. they are useing their name to sell CDs...or using the CD to promote their name or sell magazines, etc...
i used to work at an indie record label that created compilations...i've also worked at major record labels and this is how they do it....they couldn't afford the time to sit their while the DJ has to go through a million mix sessions just to get their CD perfect before pressing...so they get an engineer to do it on computer...
