Before I mixed I used to listen to a Clubbers Guide to Trance mix loads of times, thinking it was the best thing since sliced bread. Listening back now and the mixing is below poor, really bad & not worthy of releasing. But it shows what market they aim for.. clueless randoms haha!

A couple of the older Nukleuz ones were semi dire too.

The Liberators mix on It's Fuckin' 'Avin' It 1 is one of my all-time faves but when I listened back to it after having DJed for a while I was shocked to find the mixing was actually quite sloppy. Then again, it does say in the liner notes they did it while munted. Choci's VCF 1 & 2 are pretty bad too.

Ha ha you guy's I've heard a really bad one.

One of my tracks was licensed to a compilation in Europe for a big club (no-names mentioned) & it is without a doubt the biggest crappest mixing you've ever heard.

Every track on there has the next track coming in before the main tune has even come in, so it's like a whole album of anti-climax. Tunes over tunes & at one point a track finishes & then they fade the next track up...ha ha ha is not the word.

The guy's who did it are pretty big in their country & are part of one of the leading companies over there.

Shocking to hear, but not for my bank balance ha ha, please more licenses ha ha

Get sent shit cds all the time. You can get away with a couple of dodgy mixes on a cd, if it shows you know what you're doing when it goes out, and you get it back in...not push it the wrong way!eyesup The amount of cds we get with the first mix sounding like a 5-legged donkey runnin about is ridiculous. I don't even bother listening to em after that.

Saying that one of my mates has some CDs I did her a few years back that are fucking terrible. I've been trying to get her to destroy them but she reckons they bring back happy memories or something.rolleyes

Ahh the nostalgia of trying to rescue a trainwreck every other mix recorded on tapes or cd's that used to cost

What!?  I thought avin it was mixed top notch - ok the beatmatching is *slightly* out here & there, but the technical side is pretty sweet...

You're right about the VCF cds though - great tunes, fucking shite mixing.

A friend picked up one at Camden Markets called "Hard House Hard House" - the dude selling them let him listen to "a copy". He got it home and whacked it on. It was SO bad violent  Everything was so obviously out it wasn't funny. Well, it was laughing

a lot of the mixed CDs that you buy in stores aren't even mixed by the DJ themselves. they basically work with a record label to suggest and license some tracks and then they go into a studio and the engineer mixes them together...that's why when you see the dj live they usually mix differently than their mix CD. they are useing their name to sell CDs...or using the CD to promote their name or sell magazines, etc...

i used to work at an indie record label that created compilations...i've also worked at major record labels and this is how they do it....they couldn't afford the time to sit their while the DJ has to go through a million mix sessions just to get their CD perfect before pressing...so they get an engineer to do it on computer...

Well we all know the Vicious cds are mixed by the DJs themselves, but the Lisa Lashes Euphorias? I'm not so sure about that.
