i bought £25 straight desk from argos.
then stuck an argosy sticker on it.
Same here, don't see why you'd spend so much more just for a 'Y'

Really hard Kick drums!I'm in the process of building a desk myself.
Bought one of these from Ikea: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S99874111 + another desktop, which I'm going to add to make a second tier.
Does help when you have someone in the family who's a whizz at carpentry!

Please dont by from them, i brought a studio 2 workstation last year from them. the build quality is really flimsy and the keyboard dimentions were all wrong and got no monitor bridge to go with it!
i called them and was told several times they were sending it all out to me! i gave up arter so many attempts and i still have no keyboard shelf or monitor bridge. also the paint finish is reallt tacky and even when i went to put rack nuts in, they wouldnt go in as the runners had not been filed! so i had to take it araot myself and fix it!
spend a bit more and get a better quality desk. i dont use it now as i dont want my thousands of pounds equiptment sitting on something that will fall over if you look at it long enough!

Really hard Kick drums! That's exactly what I've got mate. Just bought a second desk top and put some flight cases between the 2 to get them up to the right height.
Cost me about £100 in all.

I appear to be in the nasty position of having paid a few hundred pounds for a workstation in December of 2010. You can probably guess, I have no desk and leave phone messages and emails on a daily basis.
Obviously starting to look like it is never going to turn up. The workshop is not too far from my parents house down south so I am thinking of taking a trip down to the workshop with a couple of mates.
One thing you can bet your ass on is that we will be leaving with a few hundred pounds worth of stuff, be that a desk or otherwise.
Weird thing is, Andy the guy running the company has been quite helpful and friendly when we have chatted previously but I guess we will see what the outcome is in the long run.
Should certainly be interesting .....

OK - New development re:
www.studio-desks.co.uk - The guy is supposedly called Andrew Browne - Looks like it will be this guy with a slight name tweak. Not surprising the customer service is appalling - sounds like he keeps himself busy - check this:

This is interesting. 2 weeks ago i contacted these guys and have since then paid them £530 for a custom built workstation. I had a lot of communication with Andy and we reached a final design then i made a bank transfer based upon the fact i would receive delivery on 01/06/11. After waiting home all day that day i never heard anything, The customer services number was going through to voicemail, The 0845 number on the website was out of service and no answer on Andy's mobile. After emailing him he finally called me that night asking me for more specs on my monitors which i had already supplied him with. He said he would call me the next night to arrange a delivery for Friday 03/06/11.
Suprise suprise no call and it is now Monday afternoon and i am having the same problems again. All phones ringing out and no reply to my text messages and after doing a little research i am finding some not so encouraging feedback from people about this company. I have given him till the end of today to contact me before i contact my banks fraud department so let's see if i hear back from him. If not it may be time to go and pay his workshop a visit and see what's up there. I've been patient with this guy but now my tolerance levels are beginning to run thin

Well it's far from over yet. Sounds like we are in exactly the same boat apart from my payment was sent ages ago.
Details were hidden on WHOIS register for the website so I lodged a complaint and got it over turned. Little comfort but good to know who you are dealing with.
You can check the full details here:
http://webwhois.nic.uk/cgi-bin/whois.cgi?query=studio-desks.co.uk&WHOIS+Submit.x=0&WHOIS+Submit.y=0Andy / Andre assures me it's not a scam and my desk is ready to be delivered. I am currently "expecting" a call in the next couple of days to arrange delivery sometime this week. I have agreed to post updates on the net to confirm when i do receive the desk which is fair enough so I will keep this updated for the benfit of other people toying with the idea of purchasing anything from the site. Can't say fairer than that. I guess he decides his own fate now ....
If anyone else has any experiences with the company, would love to hear of them ....

I spoke to Andy today as well and he says my desk is ready and will be delivered to me on Wednesday morning. I guess we shall see the outcome on Wednesday. The clock is ticking! I dont quiet get it though because if this guy is an out and out con man then he would not even contact me as he already has my money. The world works in mysterious ways!

How long ago did you send the money and was this by BACS transfer rather than card etc.?
Would be good if you can post any updates, especially if you get an excuse.....

Only just found this site.
Do not use woodworxs or studion desks - it's the same person Andre Warwick-Brown aka Andy, Dan or anything else he can think of when trying to fob you off. He will take your money then ignore phone calls and emails. We eventually got our money back, but it took at visit to his workshop (shed and a contaner) in Medstead. We caught him off guard. The website has now shut down again but he is greedy so will come back again. Do not use him at any cost.

Update on my situation : After a bunch of research between myself and a few of you other guys i think our friends business days are numbered. My desk is still missing but supposedly complete and up for delivery which i think is a bunch of bullshit however i did receive a full refund into my bank account today which has been verified by Natwest.
I am supposed to have the desk delivered on Monday where i will pay 50% of the cost back then the other 50% after a month when i am happy with my product which i do not intend to pay for my inconvenience

Do not let this guy tell you he is not Andre Warwick Browne as i have spoken to other customers who have actually paid this guy a visit for there refund and they have confirmed that he is the guy in pictures circulating of Andre Warwick Brown aka DJ Spellbinder the love rat / con merchant
For those who do not know just type his name in google and you will find out pretty quickly. I'm pretty certain that on Monday i will not be seeing any product from this guy who would actually have the balls to come and deliver and assemble my desk at my house when i know he is an out and out liar.
It's only a matter of time before this guys messes with the wrong person and when he does he is gonna be in serious shit because news travels fast about people like this. I'll be making sure most people in the Drum & Bass game are aware of this guys actions very soon.
I'll be keeping an eye on this thread over the next few weeks. Anyone else need more info feel free to hit me up on here.

was a couple of weeks ago. paid via the website which used a site called moneybookers.com, bit like paypal. spoke to them and they were helpful and said they're starting an investigation, but don't think it's like paypal where you've got sort of insurance if you get scammed.
will see what they come up with, then will start a county court claim. it's pretty easy (you can do it all online now), my mate was in a similar situation with someone and got all his money back through the courts.

Quick update from me too, looks like he has been trying to call me this morning and has sent a txt saying my refund will be in on monday. I too am not expecting a desk even after months of BS that it was ready and I'm fairly sure he won't drive all the way up to Leeds or he would have done so already.
We have quite a lot of information on this guy so if anyone needs anything give myself or Mr A-Sides a shout...

Another quick update from me: I have now received a full refund yesterday afternoon. No mention of desk or anything else, just a txt to confirm the refund had gone in. I also had a chat with Adam White last night and can confirm that he did purchase receive a desk and is very happy with it. He is however nothing to do with the company / Andre.

yesterday (tues 28th july) i received a payment of £150 of good will and a promise to get the desk delivered. I had a voicemail advising me of the fact he had made a payment and that he was hoping to deliver today. surprisingly tho in the 30mins between the vmail and me calling him back he was no longer likely to be able to deliver (tuesday 28th). a day later and still no desk and no contact. so enough is enough, time to issue a claim online through the small claims court for the full original 700. will keep you posted on the progress.

interesting name --- think i might know who you are! was going to contact you to try and track him down, but he ended up refunding me today. thanks for offering though

he was very apologetic on the phone and sounded pretty genuine and gutted he had to close the business down, due to 'family/personal reasons'.
anyway, case closed for me, hope the others on here get sorted.

Andy,
Where is my money.?You have £550 deposit since November 2010. Added to that is £60 court fees and £100 Bailiff fees. I have a court order against you. And you still refuse to refund my money. How dare you say you are not a con man.

After a lot of thought & research i picked up my studio desk this weekend for the new studio.
I went for the AKA Design ProEdit desk.
All cables are hidden out of sight behind the back plate, it's very strong & has enough room for what i need.
I'll post actually photos once the studio is complete.

I would just like to say I am sickened by what I have read - I too was totally drawn in by him... he knew people I knew in the industry and was very genuine about what he did and told me. What a complete and totally tosser
My desk is great though it will need some modifications after almost a year of studio work
I tried on several occasions to confront Andy about this but as you can guess his disappeared off the planet

What exactly is fishy about all the people being scammed not already being members of bangingtunes?

Hi,
I'm very grateful for the efforts on this post. I made a paypal payment at the end of July 2010 as I discovered the studio-desk company via eBay. Having purchased a lot from eBay in the past and with Andy Browne having positive reviews, I made a purchase.
However something went wrong with PayPal and Andy sent a refund via PayPal for the £240 I had paid, and then requested I make a payment via BACS and he'll give me a £20 discount for the trouble. So hence I sent £220 via BACS. A huge regret.
Then I was sent though this cycle of events where Andy blamed Home Delivery Network for 1. Sending back my desk to him without delivery and then 2. When he resent it he thought they may have lost or damaged it. After further failed attempts for delivery, I contact Andy for a refund in January 2011, and he said he was not in a position to do that, but said I could have any desk I wanted on his website at no extra charge. Due to moving house and other severe issues I was unable to take him up on his good will offer immediately, however since then, any attempt to contact him has failed.
I'd be grateful if anyone has contact details of any further advice and support on what I can do. I feel like such an idiot, but have found comofrt that I was not alone.
Thank you,
Sunny
