What's up with that new synth he's been using lately? I think I would buy a fair amount of his tracks (or from his label) if it didn't sound so cheap and light...anyone else feels the same way?

It doesnt sound cheap ... what do you want instead, an overdone, nasely sounding lead with loads of pointless excessive mids smashing through etc because the producer has been spending too much time in the studio?? lol 

 

ok he uses that main lead sound alot but thats part of his style and the lead patterns and those old school synth sounds in his tracks are off the hook, really good producer imo and has come along way since he started

If people went into his studio and asked him to use different synths/sounds and had their own ideas then I'm sure this wouldn't be a problem. Ben will be giving the people who go into the studio with him what they ask for.

Exactly ive started making more groovier stuff with him, and did my preperation took all my idas in and said what i wanted and nobody can tell Ben is behind it. Problem is people just go there and say 'i want a tune like this' and maybe take 1 vocal, then he has to do the rest. I know though he tries to involve people as much as he can. He's always asking 'what do you want next'? You can say the same about any other enginner, Owens, Nardi etc etc if you dont take most of your own stuff, then your tune is going to sound a lot more like the engineer, than it should.

Agree with that fact he is using the same/similar synth in his recent work. Think most engineers go through this phase, helps to be familiar with your sound I guess.

the tracks the the person didnt give any input in stand out a mile off compeared to his solo tracks and the ones he does with adam m.

People need to make more effort to not sound like him as ben has a very distinct sound

I like some of the rave pianos in there...i know this is his style right now and i'm not bagging on him for overusing it, no. i mean look at grady g and his tracks, he's still a fucking boss even though he overused the nasty hoovers.

Grady's newest tunes just sound like some of Doms tough stuff like hyperscum etc and he's changed 1 or 2 things.

Don't even like hardhouse any more, but just had a listen to a few a those tunes and that reminds me of the hardhouse that i loved.. that twisty synth, reminds me of tinrib and the mighty OSC Oscar synth.

everyone got their own sound, ben makes amazing tracks and its up to people requests in the studio really. he has made some amazing tracks this year!

my god that is dull, goes nowhere!

a friend of mine did a track with ben for the riff raff album and it doesnt sound like ben at all compeared too all the other tracks he's engineered

got a whiff of old karim there in that tune by ben

Don't see how it's dull as it has about four changes in it, not looking for your opinion on the track in anyway it was just an example to show Bens adaptability, he can do more than his usual sound that just depends if the 'producer' has any ideas or maybe they just like that sound they like..
