I left the place after an hour on Sat, security were wankers, the big group of black drug dealers (WHO GOT IN FIRST BEFORE EVERYONE IN THE QUE) and bullied anyone who didnt buy off them and the complete shite Lashes was playing made me realise that the Magna owners have destroyed what it use to be and i feel for the Insomniacz lads who put there all in. Maybe got better as the night went on but i wasnt paying 27quid to feel uncomftable, even the police were walking about hahaha. Looking forward to Somz in 2wk but fuck Magna. Never again!

yeaaa the security were fucking wankers, i nearly got thrown out for no reason what so ever! i really enjoyed lashes set tbh, thought the music in the main room was spot one tbh, 45min sets tho? come on

The only was i could describe Lashes was down syndrome make up addict conducting an orchestra of chav teens who could play the bin lid and scrape a stick on a fence.

And men in there 50's wearing cyber and sucking dummies should be banned too, seen some right states in there.

Yeah, heard a few reports from people who went that a lot of the sets were cack, and it was full of chavy pisshead types again, glad I gave it a miss to be honest. Somz should stick to being proper hard house night, instead of tryin to please everyone and fill a venue like Magna....

I agree witht hat point, it needs to deffo stick to hard house. Thats what they're known for. That night at corperation was amazing.

Sorry some of you didn't enjoy it.
Some points;
Security & Police - due to the recent shooting in Sheffield the police were insistent on every one being searched. The security team were hamming it up in front of the police. We eventually got them to relax this with random searches & the speed of entry improved but we are still aware of certain issues. We have no control over the police
Lashes - she plays what she wants where she wants. Some people love her, some people hate her.
45 minute sets for some DJ's - Magna would not let us open the entire complex as we previously have. This is why we had to move 5 rooms into 3. Not ideal by any stretch & we are sorry for those affected.

We came close to cancelling the event due certain things mentionned here & others I'm not going into
But we decided the show had to go on & did what we felt best for everyone involved. People had booked coaches, trains, hotels etc etc & we didn't want to harm the people we do it for - the clubbers.
This was the last event there, we had the option to go on but declined this.
We've found a new bang on venue that is unique & different to anything else out there which will be our new home for our 'big events'

On 19th November we have a £1 event at Corporation with Digital Mafia, Jon BW & Ilogik.
If people want us to keep doing these then we need to get at least 250 people at each one to make it viable for the venue

Im my opinion i thinks the 4 magna's they did, nothing changed. The first one was awesome so they decided to stick with that concept and change very little. Which can get tedious. The major thing for me, and i only say it as ive been a massive fan of Insomniacz since 2000 is that they have lost thier identity somewhat. It was a Hard House brand. Booking dj's like Whitby, Lashes etc might bring the crowd in for a one off gig, but to the long term fans and purists its very off putting. At least if you book Lashes ask her to do a Hard House set. And if she doesnt want to - fuck her off. People would rather watch dj's that are passionate within the scene than a dj who's genre doesnt fit in with th brand. Ive probablly just burned my bridges with somz. But being a massive fan for so many years without any ties to them i think im entitled to an opinion.

Have to say the highlight of my clubbing year this year was the manga in april, having read the few bits about this time round I'm glad I didn't wait round for it, hope one of next years insoms events times well with my trip home 

Some of the things said in this thread are ridiculous.  Might I add a bit of balance here ?  This was my third Insomniacz as part of the Security Team at Magna.


Interesting comment.  I was one of the Security 'wankers' and can categorically state that a big group of black drug dealers did not get in via Security before everyone in the queue.  I would be interested to hear just why 'security were wankers' as this contrasts with the feedback I received on the night ?

Thanks for suggesting I deserve be shot.  For what it's worth, we were advised at the Security Briefing before the event that we must not be 'heavy handed'.  Why did you leave after an hour ?  We're you dealing or fighting ?  Did you deliberately steal or damage anything ?  Were you abusive to the staff or your fellow clubbers ?  Or is your 'horrible twats' description as true as your suggestion that I and my colleagues are 'Power trippin roid boys who hit there kids for fun.'  (and by the way, there were four Power trippin roid girls there as well.)


This was my third Insomniacz working Security at Magna.  There appeared to be more 'chavy pisshead types' this time.

'We eventually got them to relax this with random searches & the speed of entry improved'   The searches did delay entry, but I asked everyone I searched how long they had been queuing and was told time and time again that the delay was not waiting to be searched, but waiting to get their e-ticket sorted.  As soon as we were asked to relax the searches (and I was personally asked and arranged this immediately) we moved to random/alternate searches.  If you saw the items seized (including a knife) and the dealers stopped and arrested then you might agree that, rther than 'hamming it up' we were actually promoting the safety of everyone.

This is bordering on slander and I suggest you withdraw this statement.  The Security Team categorically did not 'let about 8 horrible nigerian dealers in first, shake there hands then let them sell drugs all night and bother anyone who they think may have there own shit'.  They did not let anyone in first, if 8 horrible nigerian dealers were in there first, it was not through the main entrance and certainly bypassed the Security Team.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but, yes, the Security Team work on many events and venues in Sheffield and South Yorkshire.  They are experienced, legitimate, and do not work to any shady practices whatsoever.

Ps.  Thanks to by far the majority of you that I met and spoke to on the night.  Reading this thread makes me wonder whether I am talking about the same event !

i was accused of sneaking in to the venue and was agressivly pushed into the wall and the barries outside and told to to fucking leave, no reason was given for this at all.

That is still not how i expected to be treated after payin for my ticket and waiting nearly 2 hours to get in

I had mixed views on the security, some were very friendly, and I had banter with throughout the night, others were downright rude.... but then to be fair, they could no doubt say the same about us clubbers.

It won't make me stop going to insomniacz anyhow

Parkgrange - Sorry if my comment seemed to be out of order (reading it back I can see how it read), I blame no sleep for 4 days but still not an excuse .
I was going off reports other people have said as I wasn't working around that area, therefore my info was limited & 2nd hand.
I did hear good reports of yourselves & the police as well as the opposite, but this will always be expected.
They are difficult events to work for all parties. Your main aim is to keep everyone involved safe & secure & this was achieved yet again, so thank you for your hard work.
We've always enjoyed a good relationship with the security team & wouldn't have used you if that wasn't the case.

Re events - we've thrown smaller parties but people don't want to come out for them, simple as. We have to adapt & change with the times. If that means bringing in other DJ's then so be it. But at the core you will always find Hard House.

You may well have fair and valid points on most of your post mate. But, having attended the other events prior to saturday at Magna, I have personally witnessed the small gang of black guys dealing SO fuckin blatantly in the main room, there's no way that at least some of the security couldn't have known. They were just walking round calling out to people, ''E's, Coke'' etc... Deffo wasn't exclusive to saturday night.
If you are honestly saying you knew nothing about it then maybe you aughta be havin words with some of your collegues as they have been cutting you out of the ££.....
Just to add, I personally have found the security pleasant enough at past events to be honest, but like I say, gave saturday a miss.

^^^^^^ I believe this man may be telling the truth. Not a known liar, although mis-understandings happen. I didn't encounter any Nigerian dealers, or get any grief from security however. Although it was pretty sketchy being in the little, hot room and seeing security shining torches into people's faces and dragging them out. Looked a little random, but perhaps there was reason behind it. Overall, they must have done an OK job, along with the police, who were posing for pics with people who were proper gurning...... In fact, I don't think I remember a Magna with as many gurners there.......... The main downers for me were the queue and the rooms, but hey ho. After seeing Ben Stevens and Adam M in that totally banging little room, being faced with the Tidy Boys, Mark EG or Ric-Hard was bad news. Took the night the wrong way for me. I get used to a certain BPM and like it maintained or increased between sets, not a choice between slow HH or H-Style.......... But that's me.
