Ever been into scratchin to HH ?

I used to be but I do think its a bit dated and doesn't suit the music that much unless done really well.

Nope not a fan, Ilogik doesnt do it much these days, but does it in the right places. But i hate stop starting/chopping etc etc i just like sets to flow.

Back in 2000 DJ Sy used to play hard house sets - saw him loads of time - typically from his Cheeky Trax label. The scratching was amazing...

Nope, I have never liked it. I can appreciate the skill behind it, but I just find it annoying .

i liked halliwells scratch over the dawn.. had me puzzled 4 a long time ... still dunno if he crabs or just does a twiddle

Hate it, just sounds cheap and nasty over a hard house set even when illogik does it, it just doesnt do anything good towards the set...

JM (Crave) used to do it over techno and it sounded amazing, especially hip hop samples. I been known to do a little bit myself I think its another tool for a dj to use, and really seperates the men from the boys.

Claire Browne's scratching is awesome and sounds just right for HH!

hated that...sorta disrespectful of the tune. halliwell used to be annoying as fck with his ott scratching would be like stfu and let the tune play...same with his ott fx
but yeh never really liked scratching over hh.

Sounds like he's just pushing a scratch sample back and forth quickly tbh.

Depends who is doing it.Ilogik and rodi style are the only hardhouse DJ's that I have heard do it well.One of my friends is a hardcore dj and was taught by dj sy to scratch so suffice to say he is seriously good at scratching

it would never suit the style of stuff i like, but i would love to be able to scratch properly someday...... think rodi style scratches really well when i have heard him do it... would be interested to hear claire browne scratching, heard a couple of people mention now that she is shit hot at it! is there any mixes with her scratching on them?

yeah with 2 sounds quite close im guessing, he does a little scribble too. not much fader action. you can do it dead easy with the transform on the djm's, sounds very similar.  

I think it's one of those things that can really help separate yourself from other DJs.  I think had I not scratched I would probably not have gotten to where I am today.  With that being said though, I scratch alot less than I used to.  I think I abused it alot in the beginning it's what gets u noticed   I personally think as a transitional tool during the sections where a track is building into the breakdown or "blending time" it can really work to inject a little bit more pace and energy into the set.

And ilogik is wicked, his sundissential CD way back was one of those "wow" moments that made me want to "do that wikki wikki thing" over hard house.  Legend.

Ive always thought the best scratching in hard house was on ilogiks Hard Beat : The second coming cd, think ill have to dust that cd off

Not sure about it in hh. Other genres definitely but yet to be convinced with the house that be hard.

hard house & scraching just dont mix, doesnt matter whos doing it, it just sounds utter shit! Simply no need for it imo

Rodi's about the best I've heard but 4 to the floor beats aren't really conducive to creative timing/scratch patterns IMO, it's all a bit simple and repetitive.

That  the DMC championship scratching using hiphop and parts of mashup tools are incredible, nothing to do with mixing in its own right just damn good non stop skill all the way through!

Its something i've always wanted to learn but it looks like it takes talent and dedication so its best if i don't even bother

If it sounds annoying, the dj isn't up to it. Scratching sounds spectacular over any music when done by a true turntablist.

TBF this proves you can scratch well over four to the floor beats. Hardly your average DJ's though..

Scrathin should be reserved for hip/hop & rap, the likes of Funk Master Flex is the greatest , and for primary school kids when they get fleas (yes i know they are not fleas but head lice, before anyone decideds to troll haha)but now i've said that and i bet i get trolled for saying that! so come on someone troll me! please? xD

sorry but it doesnt matter who does it, it sonds wank!
as fake as the halliwell scratch is, its the only type that works with this style of music imo
