Don't bother Kel, learn the proper way but if you're in a rush just take 2 or 3 lessons a week. Them courses are no guarantee you're gonna pass

My sister did a week of solid driving then sat the test at the end of it. She says was best money she ever spent

I did too, and agree.

Learning the traditional way is the waste of time unless you are an already semi proficient driver, the costs are comparable, and you haven't got to try and remember what you learnt in the previous weeks lesson.

The one I did (although a few years ago!) was £250 with a test on the friday with a guaranteed pass - which meant, if I failed the exam, i had free lessons until I passed.  I was ready to pass my test after 2 days (you drive about 8 hours a day), and as soon as i did pass, my instructor took me out on the motorway for a few hours which was invaluable.

Im convinced it made me a better driver.

it depends on how quickly you pick it up. everyone learns at different rates. some of the intensive courses offer an option for a free re test until you pass. i only had seven lessons then passed first time. it depends

I'm a thick cunt so it would pay for me to do it on the free re-test until you pass scheme... can't find any around this area though.

i think im gonna have to go for this then - my only problem is the lack of choice of schools in the area. I think the closest to where I live is Carlisle and then theres only about 2 or 3 to choose from.

I can kinda of drive already - Im just no good at parking or reversing round corners etc! I've got an absolutely shocking attention span as well which is why Ive never bothered learning to drive before now - its just safer for everyone concerned if I dont. However, needs now must and I need to learn.

theres so much more to passing your test these days. theory test, hazard perception test. a lot of people struggle to get past that. then there is the actual test. sometimes the result can depend on whether the examiner got his leg over the night hefore

I dont know about these crash courses but it took me 11 hours including my test to pass. Everbody is different but I dont think you will struggle to pass as long as you try your best and have enough lessons so you feel confident to pass, its all about confidence on the day and the ability to perform well knowing somebody is testing you.

How long ago did you take your test?I seriously doubt that you passed one recently after 11 hours of driving lessons.I am not saying you did not.My instructor has got a very high 1st pass rate, has been instructing since the 1980's and said that he does not believe that anyone could pass there test without at least 20 hours of lessons unless they have had some driving experience before they start there lessons.

That is easy to pass as long as you actually revise for it.I bought the theory test book, read it every lunch time at work for about 12 weeks and at home a little bit.I passed 1st time and I am a stoner so it cannot be that difficult supercool

Kel I passed about 6 months ago so if I can i am sure you can no problem. Theory/hazard perception is fairly easy, my head set was fucked so i missed all the instructions and i still passed and as for the test itself i passed 2nd time with no minors after 15 lessons.

Everyone learns at a different pace. I took 7 lessons of 1 hour each so pretty quick as I didn't do any driving with parents in between lessons either. I put it down to years of driving games on the Playstation lol & yes driving instructors make their living off of you having lessons with them so it is in their best interest to say you need 20 hours/lessons of driving before you can pass.

There is no chance I would of passed my driving test after 7 hours of lessons. You must be a very quick learner to not commit any major faults after 7 hours of driving lessons

I can't see how these intensive driving courses are good. Yeah sure you may pass your test if you pick it up quickly but being a good driver comes with not just experiance but someone who can teach you what you need to know. I know these days lessons are expensive it was only £13 per hour when I was learning but remember ever accident you have puts up your insurance!

My sister did one of these and was really happy with it. Had to go up and stay in Kings Lynn for it. If I'd have learnt in the UK I'd defo would have done one of those.

I've literally just applied for and bought my provisional Kel so I'm in the same boat looking at options etc.

I like the look of the intensive but I don't want to waste a weeks leave on learning to drive. A few places do a six week option where you have one full day for six weeks with the theory and driving test included in the price. If you need more lessons you can postpone the test and pay for more on top until your comfortable.
It means I can learn on Saturdays then.

As for the theory. Piece of piss!
Go on the DVLA website- you can take a mock exam. I haven't looked at or read the highway code for about 20 years and I still managed to get 42 out of 50!

I'm 30 now and still haven't got round to learning.  I really don't think it can be that hard though at all though when you look at the following facts:

1.  Most people can drive
2.  Most people are thick as fucking pig shit

I did one of these in blackpool when i was 18. They are wicked but what i thought was at end of the course i'll be driving no matter what unless i was really shit. You pay for all the driving, both test's but what they didnt tell me was if you fail your theory test you can't carry on and when lose all your money you paid out cause you can't carry on. CUNTS, i thought you would reset you later on in day, oh no.

Pass your theory test first then do it

I did a lesson a week for six months and passed first time, I'd never driven a car in my life until I started lessons (aged 25) just wish I'd took it up sooner.

The main thing to remember is that even when you've passed you're still fucking shit laughing it takes years to drive well without thinking about it, the difference between a 'good' driver and a bad one in the mean time is knowing your limits IMO.

Can you go do your theory test anytime you like ? even if you aren't taking a driving test yet?

If so then how long do the theory tests last for until you need to redo it again? .. is it 2 years?

Yeah 2 years mate, get yourself one of the recent CD-ROMS with the theory/hazard perception on it, all the questions are exactly the same as the proper test, go through it a fair few times and you'll have been through all the answers, it's a piece of piss thumbsup

Just done the mock tests online - passed the first one with 43/50 and failed the second one with 42/50.

And that was with no learning at all!
