Hi all!
I'm new to this forum and find it very helpful. So I think that is the right place to ask for advice.
I need to a pair of
DJ headphones under £50 (it may be £100 provided headphones worth it) . I'm thinking about Sennheiser HD201. What would you say?
Or does anybody have any other suggestions.

Thank you all guys

I've just ordered Sennheiser HD25 sp II. They cost more money than I expected to spend headphones but I don't regret really.
Can't wait for them!!

Meh, should have got the Senheiser HD25-1 II. Not heard many good things bout the SP IIs... They r expensive yea, but worth it. You want a good pair of phones then u have to pay for them.
Will see about SP IIs, hope they'll be great.
and yeah, one should pay for sound quality!

In reply toMy HD25's have lasted since 2005 & are still sounding sweeeeet

mine would have been still going from 2007 if i hadnt of lost them at magna like a dick head!

Ive had mine since 99. Only changed both cups once, the headband twice and the cable a couple of times, and they still work like a dream.

Slosh-stepBeen playing out with my 25 SP's since about 2001 and I've never had a problem. They don't handle very loud volume as well as the 25's but they're definitely good enough to mix on in a club.
I will however be replacing them with 25's if/when my SP's give up

HD25 Special Price are good enough until you are good enough to notice the difference.
One of the main annoyances of them though is the length of the cable, its far too long

yeah know what you mean.
Apart from that they are pretty solid headphones.

All i hear from people with HD25's is 'replacing this & that' fs read the signs, get technics, I'v had mine years and havent replaced a thing, tanks.
the 1210's are small, strong & loud, and you wont trip over you're own lead lol.
What ones? If you mean these then i reckon they are up there with the worst phones ive ever used. After years of using HDJ1000s n using a friends pair of them they were fucking horrible. So mid rangy it almost hurt my ears n absolutely no bass response at all from what i can remember. I hated them so much that when we went b2b i had to change headphones for my mix cus i just hated them so much.Thought they were horrendous.

Hard TranceGuys, there are two completely different sets of Sennheiser headphones.
HD25SP - which are the much cheaper version, to give you an idea of their quality compared to the others, they used to be given away free on BA to 1st class passengers. These are the ones with the annoying long cable, and also have a different headband (single). You used to be able to get em for about £50
HD25-1 - These are the ones you want, they have the sensible shorter cord which is perfect length, and have a double headband. They are far superior in terms of sound quality than the SPs, but cost about £80 more. I paid £120 for mine about 10 years ago, and through extensive club and home use, I have never had to replace anything on them.

HD25 all the way. Had mine for 7-8 years, have to replace the pads soon, other than that they're good as new. Get the version with the coiled cable though. Straight cable is a pain, at least the original 1,5 m one.
Yeah that's the only annoying thing with the others, the straight cable gets badly twisted and bent around each other, The coiled cable sorts all that out

Yeah the HD25-1 II are the best headphones on the market (that i've personally used), We all use them in clubs and studios, Nothing has been as good as them, Fact

They are even cameramen and sound tech guys behind the screen on tv best choice too, Even pilots use modified versions of them

The HD-25 (600ohm version) is used by pretty much every broadcast company for outdoor use, i.e. Sky Sports. They're superb quality and, in ten years, I've only ever had to replace the ear pads (got new ones for about £7).
Superb phones

it's usually cosmetic replacements though - ie pad covers that have worn out or swapping the lead for the spiral version. the actual hardware just keeps going and going and can take it's fair share of abuse. i haven't been that impressed with technics and sony units i've tried. dunno if they were decent models though. i guess all i'm saying is that i've never had a probelm with mine and am still surprised at how long they last (98 'til now

), and can't remember reading any posts complaining about the actual gubbins of the unit.

Hard StuffWhy not just go to a electronics shop with headphones for demo???
Everybody is different, and no matter how 'sturdy' kit is or flimsy, if you look after it, it will last. People prefer different things....
However, as far as sound quality goes, the senny's are spot on, however they produce quite a lot of pressure even at low volume, and used to give me fatigue after a while, whereas I can wear my beyer dynamics for hours and have no ringing in my ears what so ever (although these are studio headphones).
Try for yourself mate

Ambient Donkstep Fused Mariachicoreanyone tried Allen & Heath? Very wide frequency range (5-33khz) and reviews say they are more durable/comfortable than technics/pioneers. only real downside i've read about is the looseness if you have a small head
