have you looked into the divie master pay and that in thailand cos it didnt seem that easy to get a job and the pay wasent great for the work, i was thinking of doing it in 06 but decided against it
It's hard to get a job as a Divermaster yes as they can only accompany dives not actually teach anything, plus they're ten a penny so there's loads who are willing to give their time for free diving but no pay.
As an instructor it's easy- particularly as I'm female. There's quite a high demand for female instructors as they're so thin on the ground. You can expect to earn
about 10k a year as an instructor which isn't much but plenty enough to live on when you're living somewhere as cheap as Thailand
Are you sure about that? Not heard of that high wage before in LOS for a diving instructor, I was talking to a lad who owned his own PADI dive centre in LOS and he didn't even get nowhere near that much, He had all the qualifications too. Be careful Jay!
Depends where you work. As with anything there's good places and bad places. Places that make money and places that don't.
I'll be doing my research very carefully before finding myself a job. I'm not going to work anywhere that's going to exploit me by making me work 7 days a week and paying me fuck all.
Luckily I now have a few connections so I should be able to find a job via a 'friend of a friend'
I find it hard to believe that someone who owned his own dive school didn't even earn 10k a year. He can't have been very good at it!
In answer to your other question we're heading straight up to Chang Mai for three nights then flying down to Phuket and getting a taxi to Ao Nang in Krabi for ten nights then getting a speed boat to Koh Yao Yai for two nights before heading to Surat Thani and getting the night train to Bangkok.
Really looking forward to it. There's six of us going (including Timmeh) so a nice sized group.
