I got one small one but it doesn't really count. I'm more into piercings myself, I also like the idea of scarification/branding too but I'd have to think of something creative and cool if I was to get decorative scars (not fake bear/lion/shark attack scars or removed wings etc...)

Never ever wanted one. Loads of mates got them a couple of years ago when it was in vogue now they all want them off; cue expensive laser removal.

The way I see it, unless you get something family related, at some point in your life you are gonna want that tattoo off.

yea this is common here, they get their sons or daughters name inked on them as if to pay tribute or sign of honour or some shit and then cant feed them cos money gone on tat.

Nah I not got one.

They do look cool and for ages I was thinking one day I would get one. I think there are a lot of talented tattooists out there but at the end of the day I can appreciate a nice illustration or design without it getting permanently etched into my skin. I would only get bored of it and then regret getting it done even if it looked absolutely amazing at the time... There are also some fucking shite tattoos out there and I wonder what the hell were people thinking when they got them done - probably not thinking which was what made them go through with it

Yeah, maybe something less dramatic than that.

I find it funny how people assume that anyone who has a tattoo will regret it or that it'll look strange seeing an elderly person with tattoos. Thing is, when we're elderly the current generation of elderly people will be long gone and the way an elderly person looks will, as always, reflect the times they grew up in.

I've got one, I came up with the concept years ago, sat on the idea for 3 years, and after that time I still wanted it. Spoke to an artist, and 6 months later we came up with the design that I was happy with. Definitely not something I rush into getting, and I am happy with what I got.

The point that a lot of people miss about tattoos though is that it shouldn't just be a picture that you like, 'cos like you say, you can appreciate it on paper. A skilled tattooist will create a work of art that suits where it's placed and could not be appreciated drawn on a flat piece of paper.

I don't see the point in wasting money on putting a picture on my skin - would rather spend my cash on more worthwhile things like drugs.

Exactly. I really couldn't care what people think of mine or what they're going to look like when i'm elderly, if I'm lucky enough to reach that age. I want to grow old disgracefully anyway, so bring it on thumbsup

Al hasn't got any either, he must be one of the few people I know without any, every now & then he makes some noise about getting some Japanese artwork on his arm but it never comes to anything...
