At best a lack luster bit of protesting, for most people all this isn't on their radar. I doubt we'll see riots of the scale witnessed recently, that was just kids on the rob with no agenda.

it will be similar to last year, but worse. More people will get involved. There will be riots again. The occupy shit is just gonna get bigger. Unemployment has risen today to  a 17 year high according to todays news.

The only reason occupy has gone quiet is cos of the weather, IMO. Once the warm weather comes more people will take to the streets, especially with the amount being spent on the olympics.

YOU don't count as 'the public'. The minority in London won't be backing them, but the rest of the country will. Doing shit like burning innocent pensioners houses down.... of course they will get the public backing them.

I can link video's to the riots withs 1000's of dislikes, but I can link videos of chav's getting smashed up by riot cops with hundreds of thousands likes, so don't be preaching about the public because your in the minority.

He's right. Lets not confuse what in actual fact was looting, not a protest. The majority of people were disgusted that it was left to happen and will demand it is handled with more force if it happens again. It will be the people who will make the change but, not the change you'll be expecting.

Tough shit if you disagree. Last time, the Army nearly got called in, however it was 'good real time training' for cops, and they didn't want to be seen not having control on their own.... however, as soon as lives start getting taken, martial law can be called with immediate effect, see who's out thinking they are hard once police/Army get crown immunity from shooting people not sticking to curfew. pistols

He is 100% right, it will never be MASS scale. Just a few hundred nobheads achieving NOTHING, like last time.

I think after the sentences that they gave to the rioters this year,we shouldn't see it on this scale again.

Your only looking at one side of the argument though. Yes I admit there are idiots just causing trouble, but the news just focuses on that, the actual message they are trying to put across is made out to be 'they dont know what they're protesting about' when that is absolute bullshit!

The media plays the largest part in how the people react. Leaking stories before they unfold, hyping events whilst ignoring others etc. After the looting aspect the majority see only that as anything other than an original cause was completely overshadowed by a pointless act by many on the rob. People will eventually push to grant the government into having more policing powers.

But that was always going to be inevitable when you've got the majority on the streets burning their communities down and robbing each other so blatantly. People will demand a strong hand is dealt to tackle it next time. Its had the opposite effect.

10 years from now we'll all be eating soylent green happily as long as we're not told laughing

And you think this is an acceptable thing to happem??  This is exactly the type of thing that those that protest are on about.  Yes there are those that loot and give the real cause a very bad name but there is a factual reason behind the main protesters.

Do you enjoy being raped shitless by the banks and corporate fat cats??  Do you enjoy being told what to do in your own life and country??  This is YOUR life and you should live it how you want to.  The police and government do NOT care about the difference between you and the scum, do you not get that at all??  This law of shooting people that are out after curfew won't care if it's you, the law abiding citizen, that is out after dark.... they'll just shoot you as well.  On the other side of that, if you decide to stay indoors because they have told you to, you're being as obedient as they want you to be.... either way, they win!!!   All they want is to control those that aren't the elite!!!  As far fetched as it sounds to you, this is exactly what is going on around the world and people like you carry on battling the ones who are, in actual fact, standing up for your freedom.  Beaten into submission just like the rest of the masses, it's just that some have the bollocks to stand up and take the beating for you, the rest just sit back and let themselves get told what to think and feel.  Well done humanity, that's some backbone you have frown

Neil you're talking like people are ignorant to the fact of what is going on around them. Yes a lot of people are aware that is the case but the majority will not be on the streets protesting to fight against it. That is the stark reality.

I swear people expect an uprising of united nation storming the streets overturning the government to their demands. The majority are a "As long as it's not on my door step" attitude and there's nothing united about this country laughing

Forget about the riots for a second. When you see where all the money is going you've got to agree that what the real argument is about is justified. I mean read this http://www.unelected.org/audit-of-the-federal-reserve-reveals-16-trillion-in-secret-bailouts

If you actually read that and understand it, you would see that the Federal Reserve between 2007 and 2010 handed out over 16 Trillion Dollars to various banks and institutions, and some of those had absolutley fuck all to do with America. That works out about 140 000 dollars for every man, woman and child in America. And that money was pretty much magically created out of thin air has made absolutely no difference on the worldwide economy whatsoever, and if you think the American Dollar has no effect on the UK, you should check again.

That kind of money could be used for so much better purposes, there are so many that it would be pointless to list them all, just have a think for yourselves what that kind of money would really do!!!!

uhoh You're not preaching to uneducated people with this stuff. It's not some startling realisation you're presenting here.

The fact is you'd get more unified uproar if Eastenders/Coronation street was cancelled. Doesn't make it right.

If this does all happen and the army gets involved then I suggest anybody remotely involved in any of the rioting/criminal activities not even fart the wrong way or you'll have a squaddie making your life a absolute misery in seconds.

Believe me and I cant be arsed responding to tosser's who come out with comments like the army are fuck all etc or they wont have the power or durastiction. They will and unless you have served a few years in the army you have no idea of the consequences for the scum that get out of hand like last time.

So I've been led to believe the riots last year & the occupy protests are two completely different, unrelated events:

- one a bunch of yobs out to steal after some guy got shot in tottenham

- the other is an anti capitalist protest

Got no problem with protests - its a right we all have living in a free country - but the riots?  Nah, not good if they happen again. thumbsdown

I support the view aswell, our lives are bound by the contract we make when we sign up to be a goverment agent with our N.I. number, when we do that we agree to the terms and conditions of THAT contract, problem is that full disclosure of THAT contract is not given at the time and as such is void, we sign it because 'thats what you do'. After that every time you put a signature to paper you confirm that contract acting as a member of the law society, whose rules and language are not made readily available. Thats why 'law' is unfair, its not, you contracted to it without knowing it, ignorance of the law is no defence in case.

Who is the government? If you say its a political rep then you dont know law. YOU are the government, WE are the government. The heads are our representatives, OUR SERVANTS, they are supposed to represent our needs, our needs are not being met, our reps are using the collective power we gave them to cuase discord with other nations and to unhinge ourselves with mis information about enemies that never hurt a soul in our homelands. We let these people unhinge us and create problems for natural human beings with no desire but to live free of yoke.

You who propose rubber bullets will see a time reflected upon yourselves, it will not be long before hardship reaches the middle class, the divide does not see your merit.

So perhaps this year protest will not make much difference(I actually think it wil,l as Niel and Norris predict)but next year there is no doubt. After the students come the workers, when the workers protest students will follow and many more besides.

Interesting times are coming regardless of any of that.

LOL @ the usual suspects ... Anti Establishment, anti government, probably contribute less to society that most but expect so much more in return ... and when it doesn't come their way they blame everyone else for their problems and not surprisingly .. .there's talk of a riot ... if you don't like it ... leave?

Balls to those damn longhairs. These protests have become a sponge for antiestablishment bohemian hippies, chavvy looters, Apple fanboys tweeting from the front line and looney consoiracy theorists who Latch on to anything in hope of fitting the protests in as an event in their conspiracy ideology.

It's a legitimate movement that has had nothing but bad press because;

A. the people writing the newspapers are people in work / making money hence the issues felt by the majority of the world's population are negligible to them.

B. the people in control i.e. social elites (politicians, businessmen/women, the police) see it consciously or unconsciously as a challenge to their hegemony.

When we get to the end days of a society e.g. Rome, the French Revolution, a critical mass of people who are pissed off with the system needs to gather before a bloody confrontation can begin. I think it's at least 10 years away in this country but it will happen. Such a huge gap between the haves and the have-nots and the have-nots just keep growing.

At the moment its a barely policeable section of society i.e. the benefit / underclasses and sections of the ethnic minority community see violence as their only reaction to the system but the more people lose their jobs / the less they can support their families the more this will grow and the police will not be able to keep order without a bloody crackdown. As soon as the state begins the mass repression / killing of its citizens then the downfall is terminal.
