I do like a good MC to the right music.  Love MC Creed for garage, and MC Skibadee for Jungle, but doesn't sound great over Hard Dance.

Sick to death of downloading awesome sets with thick bastards shouting a load of bollocks over them, why cant they let a breakdown play or a kick off play just for 30 seconds atleast, they've spoiled alot of nights ive been too aswell, can anyone actually understand a word most of them say?

listen to a colin dale tape circa 93 and that'll show ya a real MC

I think Skibadee is good, as I feel he adds to the music and the set, but I have heard some shocking MC's in my time, used to do a bit myself back in the day, but coming from behind the decks myself would never speak over the mix

Agreed, they should all have a chance to shout something good or we fling rotten cabbage at em!!

Hospitality on it's way, so i'll have to just switch off

to be honest, it's funnier listening to my mate do impressions of the MC in my ear throughout the night, that's more entertaining!

When I was playing bounce round the Northwest MCs became a massive part of that scene for a long time, so I've had the 'privilege' of DJing with quite a few.

I fucking hated the MCing style in bounce.... people bummed them so much that it got to a stage where the music didn't matter.... DJs would play relentless, monotonous donky shite with nothing to it (mainly Spanish hard house) just so 8 or 9 wannabe gangsta rappers could hyper-rhyme over the music constantly.  There were some good ones but they were mainly older ones who'd been doing it since the 90s and knew their place.

Some funny memories of DJing with some of them though. I used to turn the mics off randomly, or drop stuff like "I Don't Care" in my sets and watch them get pissed off at the lack of a SiK dOnKkK to MC over tounge I remember DJing with Viper from Blackout Crew back in 2007, 'Put A Donk On It' hahahaha laughing

it's no wonder why MCs these days are a bunch of dick heads, no one really wants to hear them for more than 20 minutes and they become angry. huh?

mcs are important.

can understand that in some types of music/genres/subgenres mcs can become irritating or over-used. if the dj is allowing the mc to spit and it sounds shit then the dj should turn the mic off, imo.

big up ard mcs!

I might get lambasted for this but the old Garage MCs were the best by miles - Charlie Brown, Creed, MC Neat etc. Even GQ when he turned his hand to two step was awesome. I could even stomach MC DT (though the whole 'we're loving it like this' thing did get annoying).

Speaking of which, here's MC DT and hard house legend BK together. Bet you never thought you'd see this laughing

LOL i take it you don't play out then? DJ's are booked to play at an event, they are paid to play their sets by the promoter, the promoter is the person incharge, not the DJ. The MC's are also employed by the promoter to babble their shite down the mic to the chavs. Neither the MC or DJ has any say about it, they are being paid to do a job.

Many a time i've wanted to turn off the mic, But being proffesional you can't. It's funny really, The MC's are bigger then DJ's these days yawn

Talk about fucking daft! laughing

haha storm nearly got pasted by me twice, One time at a event in lincoln, Telepathy i think the name was, i chased the cunt around the car park with a car steering wheel lock bar and then once at Raindance, I just did my sets and fucked off because i would have snapped his neck, He'd been pissing me off a lot over the past years laughing

The 2 things that annoy me with MCs are rapping over parts of tracks like breakdowns or speech samples and the "Re-wind" crap. Otherwise, in DnB and Hardcore they can be okay.
