If they are doing him on Racially aggrevated public order offence ie Section 4 of the Public Order Act the complaint cannot come from the crowd, this will be his defence (ie statatory defence), Anton has admitted he didn't hear anything so he cannot have felt harrassed, in fear of violence from John Terry and the member of the crowd cannot feel fear on behalf of Anton.

The only way round this is for it to be Section 3 of Public Order Act but this is simply not AFRRAY.

Terry will get off this on a technical arguement of the stated law.

I agree Gerrard should have got it in the first place. He's a a real leader and unlike terry has morals. And that is what a captain should have. I think there are better centre backs out there: Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Michael Dawson, Gary Cahill, Ledley King (if it wasnt for his knee problems he would be the best centre back in the country without a doubt)

Not much point having a debate about it, Liverpool fans are always the same with these sorts of things whether they have a life long connection with the club or not.  What I will say though is Gerrard has been great for Liverpool but has been pretty disappointing at intenational level and as such, to claim he is the best British player of this generation is quite a statement

were not all like alex, i don't think gerrard has a clean record by any means, and is not gonna make every game i reckon. thats why i suggested hart.

Not sure about Hart, sometimes works with keepers but not always.  The England team is almost in a transitional phase so it makes it even harder to pick a captain who will not only lead by example but also be one of the first names on the team sheet. 

I used to follow the international team with a passion but that has been lost over the years, don't always even tune into all the competitive games nowadays.  Can't see us doing anything much in the tournament this year.  I guess the press will do their usual getting those who suddenly gain an interest thinking we can do something along with the usual pre-tournament controversy stories they will print

You can have an opinion Alex it just seems to slide into line where football is concerned with what I consider as being typical of many scouse fans.  No matter what happens with anything it's either justifable or there is no blame what so ever with anyone associated with Liverpool FC.  I have found that about quite a lot in my many years as a football supporter.  The only other set of fans I have found to be almost as bad is Leeds.  Gerrard got off I believe on the grounds of self defence but are you saying that his behaviour in the situation is what you would expect of a role model?  Plus, is the results of court cases always a cast iron indicator of how things actually were in real life.

I mean you were basically saying the guy is the best footballer in this region and generation, plus a superb role model.  I beg to differ on both points, especially as he not really lived up to anywhere near expectations at international level. 

One thing I have noticed for England is that he seems to try and be trying to find the killer defence splitting pass too often rather than doing the simpler option.  More often than not it doesn't work and as a result possession is lost, he should be more of a team player in those situations.  I don't think he is really and gor a number of years Liverpool seemed to build their team around him which worked and made him one of the better players in the EPL, I can't deny that. 

Another thing about the captaincy, would or should Gerrard be guaranteed a place anyway?
