Hahaha! This is a classic thread! Where are you from rooster? Planet Halliwell? The last time I saw Eddie play, he didnt do a single scratch, and his set was so much better for it. He did still go from funky techno to hands in the air cheese, but it was still better than the time he scratched over every second track with the one pattern.

And no, you do not need to be able to scratch to be a dj. I have also beat turntablists in competitions by playing MUSICALLY, not GIMMICKY (caps just so you can feel at home!)

I know i keep saying his name when ever this topic pops up but Kutski is a wicked exponent of the scratch techniqes and he uses them in the right places.Got two of his mixes which are rather good.Bit different to my usual style of choice.Starts off with some banging hard trance,delves with a bit of hard style and ends uo with some thumpin,almost gabba style stuff.Technically superb!

Gotta mention Dodgee as well, awesome DJ who's scratching actually compliments the music rather than just annoying people!

Not ever heard Kutski but I have heard good things about him, technically speaking. he's just been signed to radio1 as part of this 'residency' thing so probably be able to check out his skills on the radio soon!

Dont get me wrong, the first time I heard Halliwell scratch (on the Bosh! CD) I was completely blown away, then I saw him live and was blown away again, but by the third and fourth time of hearing him you realise that he is just doing the same / similar scratch all the time, over and over again.
