^^^Naw, he had his whole live set up there, 909, sampler, 303 etc.

He had the 909 and the sampler, but no 303.

Due to some issues with his computer. Henry could only play his Live stuff for about 35 mins. The rest was all vinyl. I'm sure Mr Cullen can and has done better than this, but I don't think he brought that much vinyl as he was expecting to do more of a "Live" set and some vinyl sampling. Just my 2 cents.

weird, I've got quite a few live sets of his, and this is definitely the most boring one I've heard - 3 tunes in 18 mins?? Don't know if it's just the crowd, but I've got a live set of him in poland where he's just ferocious, cutting, chopping and layering tunes like a real techno dj - this just sounds like he was having a fag inbetween each record. Tunes are still wicked obviously, but nowhere near as good as he can be.

Any chance of uploadin' that Poland set then?

pistols I was there too and got kind of disapointed with the whole party. At first i got there early 10:00 pm because I didn t know what time DTD was playing so I was listening to that freaking madona's and mikael jackson remixes, Second I fuking have bought a pack of cigaretes and had smoked only one and they did not let me get in the party with it... then guess what?? they did not have cigaretes to sale in the party... Additionaly I asked to go out to get a "closed" packed of cigaretess at 711 but they reply me that if I go out I would not be able to come in... so after a litle while I was known in the party as the cigarete asker ya know what I mean dog... thats fuking bull sh*t  .... So my reflection is Why would Dave the drummer have just 1 hour and 30 minutes set?? it doesnt make any sense ... For example of underground scene at SP Groove in brazil Henry played 2 hours live pa and 2 hour dj Set a couple of weeks ago and for more than 3000 people....hehhehe ... I am sure that  DTD has great respect for the brazilian techno scene in the same way we have for him and we used to party as hard as the underground london's scene we have lots of dope alcohol and people literaly feeling the Music ... but those Smiley kids in preserve the vibe come on, gime a break!! ya guys call that a rave?? ... Preserve the Vibe 2 has to be the one that he wasnt excited at all for doing that... palying at 1:30 for 1,5 hours to a few (there were no more than 300 people there, just a guess) people who most were more focused in their glowing toys instead of the music and at last he was straight the most thing he did that night was drinking that botle of heineken as he played the max/min green... Not even bit close to the vibe he would be getting in my homeland ... screwu   Undergorund Culture ... Acid Techno...  Obs... I Respect that new energy, hard house, hard dance whatever  is called because it is hard and fast but that dj punk performance is not even close to an Techno dj... Mixing with so much more complexity and I dont need to talk about cuts... han?!

Some people would say that I am making a big deal on that  but it is a effect of the frustration I felt that made me go ahead and write this freaking text ... and that is my reflection of why DTD set  sounded boring... I left right after him... I would like to see DTD as many times as I can... unlikely as the other times that I have seen him play this San Francisco event really did pissed me off... What was that shit playing at the begining 10pm to 12 am if I am not wrong right before punk hair style dj start doing his incredibles scratches... man, come on thats not the way to receive dave the drummer... hehehhe .... He is the king

Unfortunate you didn't have a good time. *Shrug* Different country, different culture. Not everyone is gonna be happy I suppose. I had a good time!thumbsup Techno isn't that big in California, especially London/Acid Techno. I give Preserve Productions credit for bringing out something different to cali.

Ya right!! I should be ready for that  but ya know all that San Francisco label of being  undreground environment made me create e different expectation of the event and it does remind me a bit of Sao Paulo my hometown...  no wories it wasnt that depressed party...  For  sure there was a lack of interaction between DTD and the crowd ... Just a few of those who were there actually knew DTD...  his skills are amazing no doubt about that ... Think about it!  the two djs sets that played before him one with moican hair style dj and the second with that girl (denise?!) her last record was my favorite powertools... the 18, incredible track os suf collectives... both of them were playing in a way higher BPM in contrast DTD got up there and not even cared to play fast and hard, so he preformanced a mellow DTD style set... what this mean for you pal?? A lack of Respect from DTD to this culture (I dont think so), or just a lack of interest in the american scene... why he did not came down here to  violent us down...  who was the biggest atraction in that party?? was that DTD? I went there from San Diego where I currently live just because of him, Like ya said different people and culture... my underground culture took me to preserve the vibe 2 ... but the cultural clash and differences of the party from one culture to another just made me feel honored for being brazilian... A third world country that has plenty of  Underground scenes flourishing from techno , drumbass, psychedelic trance (israel shit) and electro... 24hours party baby!! and not fuking mikael jackson and madona palying at the begining... thats realy interesting point, in my cultural pattern I would be throwing rocks at the djs who start with that ... That first two hours were literally a torture... no smoke ... no enjoyable music .... not even alcohol to make the time runs faster... so as soon as we started to have nice groove going in there I started droping MDma based Candys hehehe... and after that I was enjoing myself to be there just for the fact that I was going to meet DTD in Here...

I noticed that, and I am glad with it... because every single record store I went in diego...smile every single time the records that I have most interest in are always availabele nobody never buy them and eventually every summer... I would take some of the records that have been forgotten there on the shelf to brazil to my budies In one hand I help to update my friends sets with new releases... and second and very delightfull is that I am building up freaking sick Techno colection in this last two years living in the US... I have collect more than 100 records... Great respect for Omniscient records I have 3 releases of them they are good techno stuff... most time I go to clubs, it is enjoyabale time fuking around with the chicks and have some dirty dancing hehehe thats a cool dimension of the American culture not quite that easy to rub with girls in brazil ... very hardly i get to enjoy the music... lately the most enjoyable have been the hard house  that seems to be big here... miss lisa Dj from diego plays fast ... Thats is sort of what I like about this fraction of the e_music... it does has a nice groove .... Sory to bring all this complains and cultural clash discussions... I know got of the topic here... I have had a couple lines of speed earlier and it still giving me some effects damit!!! Swear gonna stop typing!!

the DtD set in Poland that Dan is talking about is called (I think) live @ Agawa (I have it at home but I'm at work at the moment). Do a google search for it. One of those Eastern European sites with links to tons of techno sets probably has a link to it. It's pretty fuckin awesome.

Preserve the Vibe 2 has to be the one that he wasnt excited at all for doing that... palying at 1:30 for 1,5 hours to a few

Sorry you did not enjoy yourself that night. Security's rules are there to protect the party kids, as well as the venue. We did mention all the rules, what was and was not allowed in. Info line, as well as all internet promotions should have stated so. I apologize for any miscommunication.

To answer your question about the hour and a half set. It's what Henry requested before hand. Seeing as he never does a Live PA set anymore (unless on tour), he said that would be more than enough time. Like I mentioned in a previous post, he had some issues with the audio files on his laptop the night before the show. He managed to salvage approx 35 mins of Live stuff, and had to improv with vinyl for the remainder of his set.

The second part of your comments I quoted, is what really bothered me. To say that DTD was not looking foward to this event, or that he has no respect for our scene is plain ignorant! I'm sorry, but it is. I managed to spend the majority of the weekend with him, and discussed a lot of different topics. There is no doubt that he has high respect for the Brazilian Techno scene! As Jake said, Techno is really not that huge out here (yet). The more production companies are willing to bring out top notch talents, such as DTD, the more the Techno scene here can flourish. Don't you think? It all has to start somewhere, imo. If Henry really did not enjoy himself, or had "little respect" for our event and what we were trying to accomplish, I really don't think he would have stayed for the entire party.....from sound check. Right up til cleanup at 6am. But that's just my opinion.

I am sory Fury ... I recognized that coment wasnt a good one ...I apologize for stating that(my brain wasnt working with much coherence last night)... but finally I got to talk about that I really need it and got some nice feedback happy... I am glad that ya sad there is some hope for techno down here... Ya know... I may be missing my homeland's Rave parties, my crew and the whole techno scene that is booming down there ... sometimes I would think what that fuck I am doing here! Though I have academic goals to be accomplished and will be around for 4 years at least... We have a big brazilian community in Diego and sometimes there are techno houseparties.... which some lasted till noon of the next day ... the American rules are kind to hard to deal whith specialy if you have grown up in brazil =-D ...   by the way any expectations for Guy THE GEEZER Mcaffer ??

Obs... Computer's problems that make things go off track suck! that live pa was so short dude...  I was in Brazil last summer and went to SPGROOVE party which was receiving Geezer, Eric Sneo and Bily Nasty... to make the history shorter geezer did not played his live his because of a whisky spilled on his Mach's keyboard... damit!!munted
