disagree with that, most kids get into hardcore at a early age, if youve ever been to a hardcore event then youll see its like a youth club, that music is 170+(maybe not hard but is silly fast so is just as bad) so the fact that the music is hard is a pretty weak suggestion

actually its not the hardness that gets the kids in hardcore, its the utter cheesiness of it

i didnt say it was,i was just making a comparison to show his weak point

Music Style I like having stupid long names!!!!
lol... I have just realised after listening to the new releases of hard house/nrg... it's actually all the same, really people need to stop producing this sort of crappy filthocrapness, yay lets have some one key riff that goes vwoo, and filter it, omgosh yay I've done something the same as everyone else yay...

do something different ffs, wheres the warm up stuff, wheres something thats different... wheres the stuff thats funky instead of just noise thats OMGFILTHYLOL

and if anyone says do it yourself, I have been trying, but obviously none of it was rolleyesfilthyrolleyes enough... this is why I prefer cheese now, it's atleast different and enjoyable laughing

maybe nobodys getting into the harder music coz they come on the forums to see what its all about but they fuck off coz everyones moaning about it.
Haha that could also be true.

Think its a universal thing as you also get it going on in the rock music msg boards

Just people with too much time on their hands haha. Message boards actually make up a small minority of those that actually go clubbing.

regardless of how good the scene is or could be your always gonna get people who moan. happens in every genre or anything for that matter....just the way it is. even if the music went less filthy and more funky or groovy you would still get the people who are into filth saying that their wasnt enough about... its a vicious circle

very true... moaning will get people nowhere tho, people expect things to just be handed to them. If u aint happy with the music then do something about it. start up ur own night and play what u want.. or start producing yourself, thats exactly what i've done anyway.

I know at least 50-100 people myself who dont go out to hardhouse nights anymore because they say that it all just sounds the same now and is too repetitive
Out of 50-100 people I'm pretty sure they'd be at least one person with the motivation to create the sound they wanted to hear.  Either that's a made up figure or they aren't into the music as much as they claim to be in my eyes.

strewth, hey greame,i reckon you could run for Prime minister with your breakdown to the shortfalls, hey dude you could make right the Uk then the world, move over Tony Blair

start a club mate, would be faaaantastic, the 50-100 people is a already great fan base to build on

hey frank, loving The Graduateparty hard house rules, love it or leave itparty

I think what Pendulum have done for drum n bass is maybe what hardhouse needs.

Someone who can make it more accessible to people. Bring in other commerical elements without the cheese factor.

Thing I've noticed though, is that genres like dnb & breaks generally go into a breakdown at the start of the track. This gives them full creative freedom with how the tune will progress from that point. The only problem with hardhouse dj's is that the majority of them like mixing into a new bassline, hence why most tunes are made like that.

Maybe having a tune that has a bassline drop in for a couple of 64's, then into a breakdown, then out with something different would work?? Dunno munted

This post was put up to ask "our thoughts"on how to improve vinyl sales etc and a lot of people have said put some groove, ryhthm, funk back into the music but all of the producers are saying "nah thats bollocks"that isnt the reason why,so whats the point in us voicing our opinions for them just to be denied and ignored anyway????

So true.

Look, I still love and buy some of the hard stuff, all I want is some variety and fun back in to it.

The people disenchanted with things are pointing out the exact reason why they're not buying vinyl.

Producers can ignore it and keep going down the same path or heed some of the feedback from their customers and sell some more records. Simple.

I grilled 5 mates last night who have been djing for years. They buy fuckall new records now and they all agreed the music needs a huge injection of fun. We don't need to go bounce and ultra-cheesey.

Just have some fucken' fun!!! That's what you go out for innit?

it can go either way

I think it's a bit rich coming from DJs (in general) about tune structure not being interesting. Tunes are structered as they are at the start and finish to suit DJs. The more difficult something is to mix the more difficult it is to sell because the less talented DJs simply won't play it (I'm talking hard house here).

I wondered whether producers, in aiming to make a track DJ friendly, were maybe limiting their own ideas and creativity.

Perhaps it would be good for producers to concentrate on making good tunes and let the DJs worry about how they'll go about mixing the tunes in (hmm.....gonna be difficult if you do both)  that way, keeps DJs motivated, they'll keep on getting better and better and we get a whole new range of sounds.... Best of both worlds.

As a producer myself I think it is very important to be in it for the love of the music and for getting a bit. Selliong music is good and you get to make lots of friedns which is nice. Some of them are Djs .I like Djs becuase they have strong fingers.

HMV Digital will leverage the valuable specialist retailing expertise from HMV stores to provide customers with excellent value. In line with the market, the majority of tracks will be set at 79 pence with albums available at £7.99. However, just as HMV stores offer varied pricing for physical products, some downloaded tracks, for example, of new artists, may be cheaper, while content from a number of ‘premium’ artists may be charged at a slightly higher level. The HMV Unlimited subscription is set at £14.99 per month. In pursuing such a versatile approach, HMV Digital will be competitively priced, and will ultimately reflect the value that the content owners i.e. the record labels, choose to place on the repertoire they make available.

Will any dance labels be joining or are they all gonna stick to trying to get £1.50 a track with another provider for there music ????

I dont think that I had/have a weak point at all...
I used to listen to hardcore when I was younger and it was stupidly fast but at the same time it was uplifting as well becasue it was full of piano riffs and vocals etc and so it didnt seem as hard, so if you compare that to most hardhouse nowadays for utter hardness the hardhouse pisses all over it and easily sounds harder/nastier than hardcore

my 2p's worth:

The tracks take too long to come out; once you've heard them on a few main stream DJ Mixes or heard them cained in the clubs they kind of loose thier appeal, for me.

Tracks should be released to everyone at the same time not just given out to DJs then 2-3 months later released to everyone else.  I understand the time it takes for vinyl to be mastered/pressed, but now mp3 downloads are more accessible .. why the wait?

*edit* just released Adam's original post was in 2005! .. just goes to show i still feel the same LOL thumbsdown
