First i've heard of it but would be a massive blow to see them go under. have to say its probably the label i've got most of after tinrib. Dont see why they would go bust though.  Surely would be easy to scale down their operations and just turn out the stuff they really wanted to.

Is it just me or have they had fewer impressive releases since a little while before Ed stepped down as manager?

I'd say their recent stuff was better to be honest. Mainly cos they're putting stuff out by smaller time producers instead of just the same big names they always used.

We already did this thread last week! Check out the posts there guys. Greg, Ali + 2 others are being made redundant wef the end of Sep - 1 week before my debut release with them 'Keep Jumpin Ya Bastard' (with Vinylgroover's 'Zombie Nation' remix on the flip) and the Hardhouse Anthems CD, on which its included. Ali has assured me that there is no info about closing the label down and that they are likely going predominantly digital/MP3 download-based in the future, like Tidy.

usually when a company decides to switch formats there is a period of time where both formats are still in use.  ie... beta/vhs/dvd... etc.  notice that after almost 2 years of dvd's being avalable some movies are no longer available to rent on vhs.

I don't think thats true. Yeah Nukleuz has been slightly better lately then what it has been but no where near better then what is was when BK and Nick Sentience were still around.

True!!

If you really think about it then it's been a good 2 years or more since BK and Nick Sentience were really churning out the good stuff! OK.. so there's been more high quality tunes recently (not that much of it appeals to me), but what your looking at is a two year gap and for a business that can be fatal.

I'm really sick of hearing about Ed Real banging on about MP3s. It's not MP3s that have damaged Nukleuz, but a wealth of shite tunes!! (sorry.. it had to be said). I used to buy a lot a Nukleuz tunes and it's not really that my sound has matured or that I've got more knowledgable... or any of those other reasons I've heard many times before.. It's simply due to a decrease in quality!

I still love most of my old blue and purple Nukleuz records. But if you look at say those two sub labels - the decline over the last 2 years or so is blatantly obvious!! (The Purple label went from great to shit about 6 seconds after Nick Sentience left)

I really feel for the guys who have lost there jobs and just like everyone else I have a sentimental attatchment to Nukleuz. But maybe the decline of the label is a good thing. Maybe it means that hh/ht buyers are becoming more discerning (I doubt this, but it's possible) or maybe it's just time to let go!

Spot on, mate! That just about where I was comming from with my comment.

Most of the Nukeluz I buy now is off Green, and they are few and far between at that. I have not heard ONE blue that i've liked recently, and I dont' even bother with Purple anymore...It's disapointing too because sometimes they sound like they're going to be really good and then the main riff leaves it really weak or something... Nuk. has put out a lot of tracks that are bad because of one little thing but it kills the whole vibe of the track...

Now, I know here in the USA it's not a big problem because nobody listens to techno (heh), but do you really think any labes are going to make it going digital? If piracy is killing vinyl sales then how is selling it digital going to help? It takes less time for someone to download and host a file than it does for someone to walk home from the store and rip the record!

Also, here in the USA, the whole CDJ thing is pretty frowned apon by most partykids, and a lot of DJs too...not having vinyl is going to really put a big dent in the hard dance scene over here, which admittedly is pretty small time for most DJs (I'd say about 70% of USA hard dance DJs I know of are bedroom DJs or slightly higher up the chain). I practice on cheap ass Numark decks from like 3 1/2 years ago with shite for torque because I can't afford to go CD...

...then again I haven't had a gig in over a year now frown
