Ok, after all my slating of tunes it's time for everyone to get some payback.

Any feedback is appreciated. Good and cuntstructive.

Finally got back in to the studio last week with Banga to finish this tune off seeing I wasn't happy with it the first time. Fattened the bassline, got a new vocal in the breakdown, ditched the trancey riff, ditched the first breakdown and mixed the acid up.

http://www.angelfire.com/electronic2/bongo/Bongo_banga_narcoticgen.mp3
128 kbps mp3 sample (1.7mb)

If the hotlink doesn't work, copy and paste it in a new window.

Cheers guys, be sending this off next week to some labels and if it doesn't get signed I'll end up releasing it myself.

Music Style NOT FOR THE PLEASANT!
i'm liking the acid, very bubbly.  the percussion is maybe a little funky/housey my personal tastes but i kind of expected that with some of the views you've expressed about the current thrap scene. i can imagine this sitting well in a set with some of karims or fierces funkier stuff. good tune

ill gladly give you some feedback Bongothumbsup

Been looking forward to this day for a long long time, putting aside my expectations from a tune from you(i mean for someone so vocal about how crap things are and where they should go then i was expecting mind blowingness) with a open mind i listened to your track and my honest , hand on heart feedback is .... it is dull, goes no where, completelly fizzles out after the break, yeah has a funky bass line, cool thats 1 element,if this got played in a club i reckon the crowd would be pretty uninspired or excited by it

sorry, harsh but fair, you kinda left yourself open for it really, i mean for someone who continually mocks others hard work and contribution as shit just because"you" happen to not like it i was expecting far far far more but instead you confirmed what i knew anyway that sitting in the back seat is so easy, but driving takes that little bit morethumbsup

put your money where your mouth is, press it upthumbsup

i agree that it could use some more elements to this track . it does sound pro tho ....altho i do think the acid takes over the percussions a bit too much

I would agree with that. The acid line most definately needs to be lower in the mix, it dominates over the beats at the moment making them sound a bit washed out.

Cheers Marc, that's EXACTLY the kind of feedback I was wanting. Thanks man. smile

I'll disagree to an extent in that tune shouldn't really be going anywhere stratospheric anyway, it's just funky warmup tackle with a good groove, well, that's my intention anyway. But I'll still have a think about it, see if I can come up with a few ideas after the breakdown. smile

I actually want the acid to be prominent in the mix as it's the main part of the tune, especially after I ditched the trancey riff.
Jay, cheers for pointing that out, I'll tell banga to ran the acid through a low-cut filter to try and get a bit more separation in the mix. I'm thinking it masks the bassline waaay too much, but I still want the acid to be very prominent tho'. Should be achievable yeah?

Thanks guys, good, honest, harsh feedback is exactly what I want.

And just to clarify, how is calling something shit mocking it?

If I was mocking it, I'd be teasing it wouldn't I? I don't get personal, all it'll be is an off-the-cuff comment.

I mean, for fuck sake, if someone wants to call my track shit, then go ahead, it's just an opinion, everyone's got their own, and I'll be thankful they're being honest about it.

You know the weird thing is there's many music styles which I hate, country music being easily my most hated, but I'll still appreciate a well made country music song. Even some of the gash top 40, I can still appreciate it even if it's annoying as hell. But, at the moment, it's beyond me to do the same with a lot of hard dance.

It's hard for me to say really mate as I only listened to the track on the Mono speaker on my Mac. I would ask him to remove some of the low freq's anyway, but I would definately put the acid a bit further back. Take 3dB off it & see how it sits in the mix, I'm pretty sure that will make it sound more together.

Where is Matt these days?

Music Style Funk - NRG - Trance

Really like the first part of the track, really feels funky and groovy, but as already said above, the acid line is way too much and seems to dominate the whole track, which makes the kick sound pretty weak IMO.

I really dont like that vocal in the breakdown, dunno why.

Loving the funkiness of the whole track though, a bit more work and I reckon' this would be a cool warm up tune.

Old school flava....sounds quite cool from the sample you have put up there mate. It's a bit hard to tell from the mp3 but it sounds like you need to toughen up the kick to compensate for that big acid line....love the funkiness of the whole thing....TBH it sounds like an Nuk tune from back in the day....just some of the sounds and percussion loop's, stabs etc....party
