You're welcome guys!!

Well, this looks like it could be the start of a series of producer entitled sample packs created especially for & in conjunction with Tranzmit UK & Banging Tunes.com for exclusive download. Same as this they will be 100% user created by the artist to capture their unique style & will be available as a Royalty free download to use within your own work.

The next producer entitled sample pack has already been confirmed by our mystery artist & is set for a release towards the end of December, just in time for Chrimbo!!!

Until then you'll have to wait & see

All the best

Thanks mate, that means a lot.

Yeah unfortunately this industry does breed what I call "Billy Big Bollocks" syndrome. it's the usual story of a bedroom DJ or Unknown Producer who has been given their first break & then you blatantly see their whole attitude change into an arrogant, snobby, I'm superior, arsehole. I can't stand it & it doesn't wash with me, I personally won't waste my time with any people like that. Everyone needs to remember...Todays big news is tommorrows chip paper wrapper!!

There are a lot of good people in the scene who are established themselves & I think you can tell who they are without a shadow of a doubt. Everyone starts off somewhere, so I do think it's a responsability once you're at a certain level to put back into what you take & guide others in the right direction by setting a good example.

I've got the next 3 in the series of these producer entitled sample packs being put together right now by various artists, so it's looking good!!

I'd seriously like to thank all those who have taken the time out to post a quick thanks for the pack & hope it may come in usefull at some point.

All the best

That's been my philosophy right from the start man.... i've taken for so many years, i felt it was about time i contributed, which is partly why i started producing in the first place.... that and those bloody tunes you would make up in your head and thought "if only i could make tunes, that one would be wicked" laughinglaughinglaughinglaughingviolent

I completely agree, I think if the scene wants to innovate and move forward more there needs to be a more open mentality. I read alot of drum & bass production websites and boy are they really helpful, open, and far more involving than ne hard dance production website. The particular forum I read is the grid on dogsonacid.com and its fucking wicked best production forum for dance music on the web. One thing they do thats really great is every couple of weeks they have on the forum a q & a session with different famous producers so avg producers like u and me and ask them any question about production that you want. They give you really great answers into there techniques even very advanced ones, ive learnt alot more than I ever did from any hard dance production site.

Welcome aboard GK NZ :-)

First post & a good one at that. You're absolutely right, this is the reason for trying to get more people invoved with this type of thing. Yeah it takes a bit of time to put something like this together, but we're all chipping in to make the whole process that bit easier.

What kind of example or mentality does it breed if the established artists don't take part in these type of things? It's an ongoing problem unless we make changes. Those that have been asked have all been totally enthusiastic about the whole concept & are doing it because they want to rather than any monitary gains or influence.

Banging Tunes does pride itself on being the exeption to the rule in terms of a solid user base who contribute & are generally involved with all different aspects of music in general. If we can help & answer questions, we will do, to the best of our knowledge.

Yeah its definatly a good start! Keep up the good work! To say alittle more I think if you look at the hard dance scene now you see I think less and less producer/engineers coming through and dare I say the scene isnt to healthy music wise. I think we could learn alot from the the dnb scene tbh as I mentioned in my first post. If you look at the dnb scene now for example its huge, growing rapidly plus they have new and innovative groups coming through like pendulum & noisia that are really pushing the sound technically and arrangement wise. I know both these groups regularly started out reading and posting on that forum I read, and im sure that postings from top producers in the past has encouraged and supported this new blood to come through.

One big difference I see is actually in dnb for example most producers are actually there own engineers, where as in hard dance I believe alot of releases probably use a small base of engineers, im not sure on this but I think this maybe correct. I think the culture of the scene has made it like this, engineering the music is a black art. Are these few engineers stuck in there ways and ideas? I think so. Perhaps also maybe as a scene we are more stupid and lazy?

I don't neccaserily think it's that we're stupid and lazy, i think it's more a case of Hard House and other 4/4 beat based music is relatively easy to get a grip of and arrange to start with, so more and more people are thinking that they can do it.... and they can to a degree, it's just that some of the new "producers" around don't really get their creative juices flowing enough to make an impact... they would rather follow a trend  and be one of the many names on a line up, than set one and stand out which is kind of sad really.  Very few producers i listen to actually push boundries in my opinion and it's so disheartning to see as when i was a raver many, MANY years ago now, the scene was never about money, status or ego so the whole concept of being innovative was the only thing that was gonna make you stand out from the rest.  With so many people pushing the same sound nowadays, it's not really surprising that people are losing interest and consiquently killing the scene slowly!!!

Just how i see it but i think it's a valid opinion.  In the years i've been going out raving/clubbing i've been through Acid House, Hardcore (the proper stuff not this chipmonk speeded up shizer), Jungle, D+B, Breakbeat,  House, Trance, Hard House and into NRG and i have watched it slowly decline in passion, fun, enthusiasm and the whole "family" feel to it.  There's a few groups i see out there that are trying to keep it alive like the Insekt boy's (massive respect) and the Twist crew (same respect) but it seems like they are fighting a losing battle at the moment.  It used to be that you could go out every weekend and meet totally new people but nowadays it's all the same people at all the same events... boring if you ask me (boring in the sense that it gets a bit samey and tired, not because of the people i hang withwink)

I said it before and i'll say it again..... fair fuckin play for all your doing Jay and if i can do anything to help this cause i would be more than willing to help out as i really don't wanna see the thing that i have literally lived for the past 15 years disappear.  supercool

K, i'll shut up nowlaughing

Don't worry mate, it's underground music at the end of the day. It's the best thing that can happen to the scene in the long run, it gets rid of all the dead weights & generally sorts the Wheat from the Chaff so to speak.

Music moves in circles.

The sooner the better people realise that aiming for commercial appeal has a major negative impact on these types of music in the long run. Too many will bend their style to fit into a commercial sound, if you stick to your guns & the music breaks through then this is the best way. D&B did it years ago & the key players managed to keep a hold onto something that could have gone horribly wrong. They kept the underground egde & this is something all genres of music should be using as an example & rule.

You're right about a lot of sound-a-likes too mate. On another forum there is a discussion about how long you should spend on your main melody. Supposidly 3 minutes is what you should be aiming for!!! I mean FFS, that's just bullshit. Is there no craftmanship or creative idea development going on?? Or is it the riguer to say how little time it took to make a track now?

Some really good disscussion going on here, I think innovation needs to be fostered rather than frowned upon, thats a good point! People need to know its okay to write a non glazby styled hard as nails track smile. So how can you get a scene to think more that way? I think it starts from the top, lead by example.

In my experience I know that within hard dance u have got to follow a pretty tight formula or most labels wont sign you, and dj's wont play your stuff. Here in New Zealand I play for Fevah and all the dj's are playing all the same tunes, because they all want to fit in. There is a mentality that it is bad to be to different. Another thing is some dj's play tunes to look cool to other dj's, most of the time the tracks are completely fucking stupid for the crowds and it kills the dancefloor vibe. Alternatively if you look at the D&B scene it is frowned upon to write a track that sounds the same as someone else, new sounds in a tune is what gets the tune played. I know I keep coming back to D&B but I think we can learn alot from them, they definatly have alot of problems of there own but our problems are there strengths...

i listened to these samples last night jay, nice one some really good stuff, in fact ive nicked one stab for a tune im working on, although i've tweeked it a little and it sounds completely different now lol.

i've been a member of bt for around 5 yrs or so now and have learnt so much, so its a good site for that, i need to get back onto the feedback forums and listen to new bits as i used to frequent there all the time when i had the net at home, used to write an essay on each track a la grit.

ive recently been listening to the pendulum album and noticed a fair few sly virus noises and hoovers plus acid, i think the more innovative producers have a wide range of music they listen to, where u can clearly see elements of breaks and dnb in the tracks, i think this is where its heading at the mo, im waiting for the first hh/dnb crossover tracks to come out.

also i'm not sure this has been mentioned before but i was thinking about the od404 sound and doms other stuff and wondering how it sounded so fresh, i presume dom doesnt go rocking that much so doesnt have many influences in the hard sound so every he makes sounds original to a degree, also i believe dom doesnt do any engineering work for others, apart from collabs, so hes making less stuff, but more time can be spent on the tracks etc, is this a good thing, i think so.

also i wonder what % of tracks actually made get released, and how that % varies from a releativeley newcomer to the scene, to a established producer.

Someone i know has already mentioned this as an idea but i shall say no more...... get ya arse into gear boy and get this shit rollin' wink

The broken beat style of music ie Breakbeat and D+B is defo the way forward.... i think it just comes down to the fact that there's is more to work with within the tune, not just synths and bass and FX but the beat needs sculpting too.  The more creative the underlying beat, the more creative everything else will be to fit in with the groove of the beat thats carrying the whole thing.  This is the thing i absolutely love about Breakbeat!!!  It's so different to work with each and every time... different groove to the beat, different feel to the bass and everything else kinda falls into place but never sounding the same!!!

If your working on a static 4/4 beat, you seem to just wanna stick an offbeat bass on it to get ya started and then some simple percussion to fill it a bit then your kinda stuck in that rut already!!!  You try to change it for a more shuffled feel but it starts to sound too different from what you had originally thought thus effectively ruining what you intended to acheive?!?!?!   That maybe just me but i would think it's sort of the same feel for most?!?!  violent

It's good to see something who is established within the scene still willing to help those that are trying to do the same. The amount of times I've asked other established for help and tips etc, I get no response. Why it's so much of an effort for them, I do not know, they aint that famous and surely don't recieve that much fan mail. Know wotta mean?

I find the packs very helpful as I aint gotta clue how to make my own sounds, so at least with these I can pratcise with sounds Im into to learn how to build and structure and with time and practice I guess I'll learn how to.

So cheers jay! Well done mate!

It's good to see something who is established within the scene still willing to help those that are trying to do the same.
