Nice clean setup mate!

I wish i had more space as mine is a bit cramped since i would love to have more speaker choice! Even to work in 5.1 surround!

and ye...laughing.....love the bowl!

Knockturnal - it a Mackie "Big Knob" (HERE). Negates the need for a mixing desk altogether, which saves me a load of space.

It basically handles volume control, monitor switching and talkback

Paul, where did you get your chairs from?

I like the idea of just hooking up your gear direct into the frontend. I was thinking about doing this & getting rid of my mixer, but I'm worried I'll get some serious problems as I'll need a few cards running simultaniously to hook stuff up.

I see the plant is a new addition...I give it 2 weeks!! ;-) They all die in the studio..it's like deathrow for them ha ha ha

Chairs are from www.vikingdirect.com £45 each! not sure if they still do them, but they always have some good deals on.

I'm definitely a fan of the mixerless strategy, but that said I don't have too many bits of outboard to contend with. My Layla 3G's 8 ins are enough for Decks, Nordlead, and Voicemaster (Mic Pre). Although I think that even if i had more stuff I'd get a card with a load of inputs, and possibly a patchbay to swap things round if needed.

I'd definitely be wary about running several multi-in cards together

Ze Jay, Is that the Sherman 1 or 2?

We had shermann monitors.......bloody loads of them!

A close friend of ours knew the guy who built them (Built here in Newtown, Wales!) and so got us to try them, Tony within his DJ Booth and myself within the studio!

We both loved em...and the look of them too with the Kevlar cones!

We had the small to the large.....as seen in the DJ booth, we had a pair of the small and medium (i also had 1 pair of the small on the front reception desk and within the studio - I loved the smaller ones for mixing on!) Additional to that we had 2 x pairs of the large 12" driver (3 way + Bass port)within the studio which were awsome!

I never did know the model numbers since they were a kind of experimental custom build?

I still have a pair of the Mid sized ones here......and sadly, shermann went bust!

Here is a pic of the V2 studio monitors:

Paul, thanks mate, I'm onto it now. Can't believe they cost £45!! They look very smart, you got a bargain mate. Yeah not sure about the cards at the mo, maybe more hassle than it's worth.

Moo the desk is an Ikea Jerker desk. I think that's the older model as the new ones have a slope in area in the middle which is a bit crap really. The one Paul has is defintately the one to get if you can. Think they're about £70 which is a great price.

Wasnt going to post this but thought, fuk it! This setup was put together in a shed at the bottom of a ministers garden in Kingstanding, Birmingham, UK as we needed somewhere to do vocals as it wasnt practical using my bedroom!

This was back in 1990ish, before i met Tony, i was working with a musician (pretty good guitar player, producer (worked with Quincy Jones) and a gospel singer! We were producing R&B, Gospel and early house!

Thanks Paul, just set up an account with them & ordered a couple for the studio. I'm totally re-fitting it all in about a month, so I can't wait.

Will post up some piccy's once it's all done.
