French, German and Spanish are pretty easy as far as things go - Dutch, Mandarin, Japanese, Swahili etc are all pretty fucking hard.

gonna do a spanish course next year before i go back to south america cos i felt like a right muppet when i was travelling there and couldnt speak to anyone. probably the most useful language to know after english purely in terms of the number of countries you can then visit.

wanna learn swahili as well before i go to africa in a couple of years (bit of a longer-term plan there) my sis speaks some so ill get her to teach me the basics.

i occationally think it would be cool to learn a language.. but then usually come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be worth the effort, unless i really needed to live in a country with a different language

I didn't think modern chinese would have been that hard considering it's one of the few languages that were designed rather then evolved. And doubley so considering it only has about 3000 words to english's 10,000+ words.

Aparently Russian, Arabic & Chinese are the three most difficult to learn. Or so this fella I met claimed. He's a language freak though. Speaks two handfulls of languages and actually did these three in a matter of 5 years looking When I met him he was only in Taiwan for something like a year and he was basically fluent at that time. Hectic.

Always thought that English is the most difficult language to learn
