ongoing problem that is no doubt easy to fix once you know why....

currently have lead going from the REC out on a mixer into the line in on my pc

when i record to hard drive in S'forge or wavelab, i have to have the record input slider (in the volume application) almost at 0.

the levels look ok, but a tad high, yet when i playback any recording, it peaks constantly and sounds fuzzy and loud

the overall output gain on the mixer has no effect, it's only the individual channel gains that have an effect on what is recorded.

anyone else come across this or know how to fix?

cheers

what soundcard are you using?

If the levels are ok from the mixer. ie, line level, then it looks as if you have the soundcard setup wrong?

If its a standard soundcard. like a motherboard soundcard then double check you have used the 'Green' input socket on the PC. double click the sound symbol on your taskbar (bottom right) and check your sound settings.

I know all this sounds patronising but its an easy overlooked mistake. Some soundcards dont label the input sockets so its easy to use the Microphone input or have the 'record' settings set too high.
