how do a take samples off a DVD? do i have to put a dvd player through mr pc or can i DL some software to do it off my DVD rom?

if you mean take it off a normal dvd, you can rip it off using acid pro 5 i think (so Ive heard!) I'd try that.... but yeah I think software will be needed

There is software around to extract audio only from dvd. www.google.com

 

It just writes one big wav file. U just need to know the timecodes then.

Yep, best way.

I have a little app called 'all sound recorder XP' which basically records the stereo out of your soundcard. This way you can open the DVD in your media player and visually find the section you want, pause, put the App into record then hit play on the Media player...hey presto! A Wav of the audio to edit more finely in Soundforge or whatever.

I just play the bits of the DVD I want and set wavelab up to record it, then chop up the bits I want as a WAV file. You could do the same with Soundforge etc as well thumbsup

True, wavelabe does the same as this little app i have as it can be set to record the mix outs.

I have Wavelab but use this app as its on my other PC and smaller than Wavelab.

ive got a similar ap to that simon called wiretap..great freeware lil program, press and record, set it up to go straight into my wave editor, pefect!!
