I never drop the bass in a mix at all, they are always mixing just at different rates, gives the mix punch. If you pick the right tunes, you can mix without even touching the eq's.

Actually I think that if your 2 basslines are at the same roots note &/or pitch  you should be able to mix tit together without any trouble but Heyyy it's a practice question !  You got to try it to know it !!

keep it real ! Keep the good vibes living !

i think what people are warning you about is the phase of the two different types of Low Hz tones.

what you don't want is for them to cancel eachother out.  there are cases where it will not happen and 2 basslines or kicks will work great together.

i've been in electronics for a couple years, this almost sounds like it has to do with harmonics. (4 being a harmonic of 2, 8 being a harmonic of 4. etc. harmonics have a way of canceling out frequencies or tearing up frequencies that are not harmonics. but apparently 'harmonizing' with frequencies that are harmonics. so if you take a low frequency, say 2000Hz, it may sound good with 4000hz, or 6000hz, but not 3650 hz. - just a theory right now, since i don't know that much about sonic theory.

most bass type instruments have a low range around 30hz... ie piano, string bass.

2000hz is definitely NOT a Low frequency.  that would be aproximately 3 octaves above middle C on a piano.

and if you are talking about a piano... which i a great musical model... if you hit a low c note... every c on the piano should resonate with the fundamental... along with sympathetic notes that make up the tone's harmonic range.

anything more the 2 decks should only be techno or something very basic . unless you do tricks on the 3rd .

it varries on both basslines your mixing . sometimes they just dont work togther because they are uncompatible with each other . osc is higher then the other or lfo or whatnot . its a gamble if you dont know them by heart

Fully disagree _ I mix breakdown to breakdown every mix and a 3rd deck would be the shit you could drop a new bass line every two stes of 64 if you use the right tunes!!evil
