Does the job, in the sense that all the bits & bobs are in the right place

bassline sounds a bit flat/wrong too, but it's an ok tune.

Just had a listen, I know what sample CD your using as I've used the same loop at the start before!  Seems well programmed.  What are you using, cubase or logic or something similar?

Kick drum needs EQing a bit to bring out the punch, boost somewhere around 125kHz, maybe needs some compression aswell... not sure, I'd have to listen again.  Looks like you've learnt a few thing and probally still learning, keep at it.

thanks.. cubase and yeah its a common loop.  damn eqing I need a tight program to help with that.  but I thought I spent hours working on that base but I just can't get it to be bigger and punchier without making it overpower the rest of the track.  My overall sound is pushed way into the red as it is.

It's not overley bad, I just think the kick needs a bit of bass added at a frequency that will give it some punch.  If everything is in the red then that may be the prob.  Everything will be fighting for space to breath, I've had this problem myself several times.  You may need to bring each fader down by a few dBs in the mixer.  This can be difficult if you've got volume automtion on some of the tracks, could take an hour or so to rebalance it all but it will be worth it.

thanks.lol if dramatic doesnt say it totally blows then you know your on the right track!!!

I think your right its almost impossible with that eq that cubase provides because as soon as I bring down one level another one needs to go up and getting the right balance that sounds like it should on a mastered track is making pull out my hair.  I was either thinking I should invest in a standalone mackie mixer or get another program like the one you mentioned.

Also, make sure you've got your speakers away from walls as that too can make EQing a nightmare.  If a speaker is next to or near a wall then certain frequencies will bounce back and cancel stuff out or add to the sound. It can do your head in proper. I tried living with this for ages till I realised where I was going wrong!! I had to rearange my entire room but my EQing improved feck loads.  Oh Yeah , try dampening walls with blankets and stuff, that will also help.
