I don't understand why people are jumping on Tom's back though just because he didn't "bow down" to Simon's offer, it's fairly acceptable to not want Simon's assistance

It's clearly not Tom who is talking about himself or bigging himself up so don't understand the last few comments or giggles either

To be fair I don't see anyone 'bowing down' to Simon's offer mate. In the same way Tom expressed himself, others do so also!

This thread is destined to be another argument IMOthumbsdown

Give over marc!

As if you can't tell he's being arrogant by the way he replied to Simons post. Fair enough no one has to bow done to Si's generous offer, but their is way going about things and its obvious Toms trying to play the big man here(yet again).

Plus why even bother to reply with the smug answer he gave?

If you don't need his help then you shouldn't reply, simple.

I don't see anyone bowing down to Simons offer at all.

Tom likes to inflame threads and make it all about him.

Congratulations, he has done it again.

Fuckin ell! it was i joke... i just replied with another joke! CALM DOWN!

Who is askin who to bow down??????

The Offer was to help me out but i wasnt too clear on the outlined rules...... my fault! So everyone keep their hat on!
As said tunes speak for themselves.......but overall, sales do! This is the popularity meter and how far up the music ladder you are. an extreamly HARD ladder to climb these days, even for well established artists! Unless you have crossed over to commercial land you are probly lucky to sell 100 units! Plus most underground tracks last a week or two.

Anyway, Id better get on with the rules as i do have little time to dedicate to production as i have a Job/Life and missus that takes up most of it!

I need to get inspired to even want to switch the gear on as i get more fun out of trying out/ installing new synths, i sit and tinker away until bored or it crashes! I actually got something started last night so i get the kick & Bass sounding great but i load in CronoX 3 and it crashes after rushing through the presets...so i end up powering the PC off and going downstairs to watch TV for the rest of the night!!

AIM:

  • I am in the process of carefully installing only the plugins i will need so the PC & Cubase is stable as some plugs have issues with Dual Cores.
  • I need to get the levels correct with Kick and Bass so a lot of Tweaking with setting up a bare percussion template and Dynamic plugs to get it back to a banging dance level...nice n tight without going OTT.
  • being compitent with the shortcut keys and menus in SX3, My sample library and external sound editors (Acid 6 & Soundforge) will ensure speed and efficiency when in creation mode as i know that one stall in the process i will walk and do something else mid flow! (told you i have to be serious or not at all!)
  • The possibility of hiring out engineering etc and work with other DJ's is a possiblility only when i have mastered the above. time is not of the essence as i will never forget how to produce and the industr is going through a change constantly anyway, i have been out the loop for so long that it doesnt matter as and when.

The Offer to 'Finish Off' one of your tunes:

  1. Its not a 'collab' as this will come later when im back working within the studio more often.
  2. It has to be YOUR tune and not one i remixed with TDV since i can do this alone - I already have the samples!
  3. I am going to 'FINISH' the tune and send you back a stereo MP3, not pass it between us. If liked its YOURS as a remix from me.
  4. I dont want just a bare minimal bass & kick, it HAS to have some sort of direction! some melody or Vocals/film snippet
  5. Im not bothered what sequencer you have used since all im interested in is the melody and the vocal samples/stabs or main riff, the rest i will totally recreate from scratch.
  6. The Idea is that YOU are helping ME with throwing a project into my lap and in return you will get the remix, i will also send you ALL the new samples, cubase file/Midi file for you to play with or view etc which may help.
  7. I will set a week time limit to start and complete to a master level as long as i have the time within that week.
  8. Please dont expect miracles or tell me what style/genre you want as i wont listen! I have always produced from mood and feeling the track gives me
  9. If it doesnt inspire me i will PM/Email/MSN you and let you know and why.
I hope this doesnt put too many off, and only aimed at established artists/producers/music blaggers is they have a half finished or even current project they want me to have a go at?

Any further questions, PM me.

Cheers guys!!

PS. Tom, i could not improve your masterpieces any more than they are now as shere gold discs of the present and future......Collectable tracks my future gandkids will play forever! laughingwink    J-O-K-E !!!!!!

if none of you replied to him then it wouldn't be would it. the only people turning this thread into a parrgument (laughing) or parrmotional tool (party) are you guys!

in my opinion it's not that great an offer to send over tracks for tidying up - it's one thing to get down simon's studio and learn off him and tidy a tune up in your own way with him engineering it, quite another simply to send him a shit tune and expect back a decent one without your input on the fly. you'll never learn the important part of fine-tuning your tracks that way.

wanky comments are for Tidy and HF man! people will get on your back if you're out of order and thats that!

so you are saying Si hasn't got the right to collab because it will be affecting our production skills?rolleyes so what if someone sends a track to be fine tuned? it's not like we'll be shipping our future discographies to mr parkeslaughing just a bit of fun and TBH you can learn a lot after you compare a tune which has been fixed up by comparing it to your older versionidea

ah i see. so it'll end up as artist - track name (simon parkes remix) at no cost?

i don't see the point in this - sure it'll get you a release as long as you can get to grips with the software simon, as i'm sure you will be able to! - but people will not learn anything.....

it was clearly a joke alex, hence the smileys. lighten up mate.

i don't see how it will help you that much, if you don't see HOW it has been improved by simon. and anyway, it's a different scenario now with it being essentially a remix. it's not going to be a collab - you won't be in simon's studio.

as i said it's a very generous offer, and one which it would be good to take up to get a fresh take on your idea. my ONLY point is that for people planning on learning from simon it's not the best idea.

at what point did you make the assumption i'm pro parr? he's written some good tunage, but at no point did i support him in this. i merely suggested, that if you all ignored any comments like that, then the thread wouldn't turn in to something all about him.

so anyway, back to the point at hand...

Tom is allowed to joke same way as you lot are, I notice no one had a pop at Paul King rolleyes

The way I saw it was that Simon put up a thread on a public forum so has to be prepared that not everyone will wanna bite his hand off, Tom went against the grain (shocking that he should, tut, tut) and declined, Simon gave better then he got in his reply (there's always 1 side to every argument on BT though, never 2)

Simon's fan club then piped up and were joined by the Parr hate group and we are off again biggrin
