Hey guys!

I was wondering if I could ask any of you for some feedback on my new track?

I've only had Reason 4 since the beginning of April so far and have made 3 tracks, this being my 3rd, named Aura.  It's electronica and allot less repetitive than my previous tracks, still not a touch on the pros productions but my personal best so far anyway.

Just go to the page and play via the little flash player, or you can download via the link near the bottom of the item,

Any feedback, good or bad would be great (preferably constructive). Thanks for your time guys! laughingmadtonguemunted

hey,

jus listening to ur track, had a read of ur page n u said bout ur mate suggesting 64 instead of 128....

firstly mate it is good practice to have your adlib changeovers every 32 (don't think i kno of any track that isnt in this format off the top of my head), over 9 minutes is a bit long too. Bass comes in just before a minute which is the norm so thats good.

Points for the composition:

Bass in is bout right thumbsup

New elements (odd pad) introduced @ nearly 7 mins thumbsdown

Track too long, 7 mins is plenty

Outro shud be same as intro, just in reverse order (or as close as)

Points for sound:

Good melody going @ 3:17 thumbsup

2:40, the choir pad thing is too loud in the mix, out of key and place, probs ditch it

In parts of the track every 4 beats u have a short cymbal crash panned to the left that isnt really contributing to the sound or flow of the music, that cud be a stab or sumthin to give the track individuality

All in all not too bad m8, only thing i can suggest (from what i can make out from ur site, as u seem to want more people interested in ur stuff), is to produce a set genre, coz the style u got is sorta a mix of diff genres that cudnt hold its own in a single genre if u get me? Imagine ur fav dj droppin ur tune in, wud it fit in the middle of one of his sets? Chances r probs not, i use to say well i wanna make my own style, but i can't even name 20 genre's so odds of me making my own is pretty slim lol, so yeh it is best to copy a sound, then develop ur own twist idea

Hope tha helps u out m8 thumbsup

Dude this is what I'm talking about!  Proper constructive stuff that I can sink my teeth into.

I've got a few questions (some might seem a bit stupid), firstly when you say to use 32 instead of 64, would that not make the track a little short? Or do you mean just introduce some element of change every 32 beats?

In respect of the pad would say that it's wrong to introduce new instruments that late on in the track?  That was kind of my way of breaking up any monotony toward the end of the tracks so I shall have to find other ways of doing this.  Unfortunately my melody creation skills are a little to be desired and sound like a little school kid sitting at a keyboard for the first time munted

I should be able to address the rest easily enough and get a different mix going so thanks a million for your feedback it's definitely the most constructive I've had so far party

Also you are right about the mix of genre, i've never been one for mixing the same stuff as I personally find it too boring, so my own tracks are a kind of weird blend of everything I hear.  I've been trying to make a trance track with a nice melodic melody but so far anything I have come out with is just so far off ball, plus my melodies suck. dunce

Again thanks a million for your feedback, all taken well on board! supercool

Having done as you suggested I've re-uploaded v2.0, although it's still 9mins long, I think I am happy with anything from 7-10mins long as most of the tracks I use are within that timeframe, also the long lead-out makes it nicer to mix with laughing

I've had feedback off of a couple of people so far that instantly say the changes have improved the track, so I owe you a beer big stylee! party
