I don't think it's my soundcard, I have a focusrite saffire pro 14 and my needles are in good shape. I have bought a few vinyl rips, the Karim ones for example sound fine. I'm guessing they might have been mastered?

I agree. I am trying to do a mix of newer stuff and it's such a struggle trying to find tunes and especially trying to be different from everyone else. I think now that CDs have stopped and labels are only releasing one or two tunes a month it seems ....
