its a standalone program- works a bit like rewire- detecting your in/outs in cubase.  it basically bypasses your DAWs summing and does it itself. sounds better than cubases mixer IMO

Having used the SSL X Desk i can say it definitly adds something to the mix -more than internal summing does - everything gels together better and if you have outboard gear you can patch it all via the desk quite easily so if you have outboard ....
