ADD YOUR PLUGIN LIST Friday, August 15, 2008 3:56 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
The only synths I use are Massive, Zebra 2 and Predator. There's a lot to be said for learning a few inside out rather than trying every single VSTi out there.   Battery 3 for drums, sometimes Kontakt 3 for mangling samples. ....
Swing Friday, August 15, 2008 3:42 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
In Cubase you can extract the groove of a MIDI file or Rex file - highlight all then select 'Part to groove' from the Audio or MIDI dropdown menu. This means you can use better swing like MPC grooves etc. I keep each track's groove saved as a ....

Cubase 4 Thursday, July 10, 2008 10:32 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
I bought C4 about half a year ago and it's just sat there in the box, too many bugs on my machine and no help from Steinberg. It's so depressing browsing the Cubase forums Hopefully it'll run better on Mac
Sylenth1 or Massive? Thursday, July 10, 2008 10:30 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
I would say Zebra 2 may overtake both these synths in terms of sound quality and modulation possibilities. Out of the two I'd personally choose Massive. I use Sylenth as well but it has far less flexible routing. Once you have the ....
The Studio Pic Thread Thursday, July 10, 2008 10:21 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
In reply to Got mine close to how i want it now (apart from a decent bass trap) but have a question. Ive used 12 tiles to absorb some of the top end but when i clap i still here that weird 'tinny' echo. Where else in the room should i be ....
I want Logic! Wednesday, July 09, 2008 7:36 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
In reply to Fairly sure you can't update a mobo like you can a PC. They arent expandable in that way. You wont be keeping the same case for 10 years like you would a PC.Also, don't get anything like HDDs or Memory from Apple. Absolute rip off. That ....

Panning Monday, July 07, 2008 10:26 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
Lots of sounds in great club tracks are panned loads, some tunes have super wide leads that sound great in mono and stereo. As far as panning perc goes, I find if you pan one hit left then you want something else hitting right to balance ....

what vst's for bass Monday, June 09, 2008 10:25 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
I love Trilogy for sine waves, it seems to kick out such a solid sub. Massive or Sylenth for most mid lines. Pretty much any synth can make a good bass though, even Cubase's A1 can be sweet.
Free VST Monday, June 09, 2008 10:20 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
Really liking this synth, but it absolutely buttfucks your CPU. It seems loads heftier than Massive in ultra mode, and even that can be switched to economy.
Synthesis Question Monday, June 09, 2008 10:15 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
Sounds like a saw wave with an envelope modulating the pitch, could also be done with an LFO on the pitch set to retrigger on every note. It needs some attack and short decay so the pitchbend rises up quickly rather than pushing down ....
Recommend me a new vst!! Thursday, May 29, 2008 6:36 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
Massive is definately my go-to synth for pretty much anything. Zebra 2 and Sylenth 1 are also great quality. See how great Massive is: http://www.digital-blonde.com/view_video.php?VIEWKEY=c962aa0d22ac97d69b79

Studio Monitors Help? Monday, May 19, 2008 7:54 PM DJ & Studio Technical Discussion
In reply to Maybe a bit pricy for you, but I've got the Mackie HR824's and they are superb. Flat, not tiring and lots of power. Free field response is +-1.5dB 37Hz to 20kHz and -3dB at 35Hz. However, the price is steep. But there is a smaller ....
